I got this to put on a potting room door for our walk-out basement. We rarely use that door so it's frequently locked, but it makes a convenient entrance to the house when you're working outside. Being able to enter the house without carrying around a key is a really nice ability.
When this unit works, it's perfect, "when" being the key word. The only problem is that it seems to randomly reject the code and lock us out. I've only had it for a week and it works about 90% of the time. I'm going to contact the company to see about replacing it. Hopefully it's just this particular unit that's defective, because otherwise I'm very happy with it and would like to buy a second one.
A door lock needs to be reliable, which is why I'm only giving it 3 stars. If it would work 100% of the time I'd give it a 5 star review. The installation was seamless, the instructions are clear and the physical quality of materials is very good.
The keypad lights up nicely at night and the status LED's on the inside and outside combine with the beeps it makes to make it very clear when buttons are pressed and when the code is accepted or rejected. The ability to have it automatically lock itself after you open it is great.
I'd rate the quality higher if the battery cover was metal, but this is at least $30 less than the competition so I got what I expected. The important pieces of the handle that would prevent, or slow down, a break-in are metal.

I wrote the other review, with 3 stars but for some reason, the Home Depot site won't let me edit it. I have to update the review with the following information:
About six weeks after the purchase, the company called me out of the blue to inquire about the door handle. They had read my review on this website and wanted to send a replacement and to see what the problem was with the unit I purchased. I have never, ever, had a company take the initiative and track me down about a problem I had and offer to fix it for free. That was some of the best customer service I've ever experienced.
I received the replacement door lock from them, installed it and everything is working as it should be. So I have to update my review and give them five stars. The customer service is top notch and the door lock is working perfectly. In fact, it just withstood a five year old boy pushing all the buttons he could. Over and over again. I heard so much beeping, it was like R2D2, then one long tone which I thought was some kind of death cry. When I ran over and checked it out the lock wouldn't work at all, but after a few minutes it was back to working perfectly -- I believe it was a type of safety, to prevent burglars from constantly trying out codes, it forces a five minute lockout after so many failures in a row.
In summary, this is a terrific value, I see no reason to spend the extra money on more expensive products.

Once installed the handles will not return to the default position. Evidently the handles are too heavy for the spring to return them.
That is, the handles in the default position are horizontal. Push them down to open the door and the handles remain in the down/vertical position.
If we remove the inside handle, the external handle ill return to the horizontal position.
So, either our 'spring' is too weak or the combination of the internal and external handles are too heavy.
Can't use it like this.

The product was easy to install and it worked fine till the beginning of winter. This is installed on the main door. Once temperature drops below -3, the combination does not work and I get locked out. If I replace the batteries (and I use Duracell batteries) everything is fine and dandy for about a week and then the trouble starts up again.
I've taken to carrying a key everyday just in case I get locked out. This is the second winter that I am facing issues. Come summer everything is great.
Am extremely disappointed with the product. Will definitely change the lock soon.

We really like the electronic keypad at our office. It helps us feel much safer overall, but it would be nice to use a shorter code in case of emergencies in the lobby, so we could get in faster.

this is a great product when i come home i don't have to fumbul with keys and when you have stuf in my hands no problum and the guy that helped at home depot was the best sales man ever the item was not in the store and he order it on line for me and it came right to my house

I too have had problems with the mounting screws, AND the code not being accepted numerous times. When my kids are trying to get in after school and it's -20 degrees outside, they end up coming through the garage because the door won't open. The wire harness is a huge pain and would be better if it had some clips to hold it down as I fear it is the harness that is causing problems my harness was warn down in one spot because it was rubbing on the turning mechanism inside and ended up exposing all the copper and I had to try and tape them up. clips would have been a stellar idea !!! I think I'll look at another model because THIS one is beyond frustrating !!

Very pleased with this item, the install instructions needs to be a little more clear, but overall it's a good product.
