Customer Questions & Answers

How do I make my door look good again

Didn't know it needed coating so stain color is gone at the bottom And side of the door. Can you tell me if there is any way to make it look good again?

are you suppose to coat the door with anything to protect the finish and if so with what, thanks

Asked by: 54
The door will already come with a polyurethane top coat with uv inhibitors to protect the stain finish. It is recommened that you reapply another polyurethane top coat with uv inhibitors every 2 to 3 years. Also the level of sun exposure will also factor into the timeline, if the door is protected and does not receive much sun the top coat will last longer, if the door receives a lot of sun then you probably want to reapply every 2 years.

Customer Reviews

63.5 in.x81.625in.Lakewood Brass Center Arch Lt Stained Medium Oak Left-Hand Fiberglass Prehung Front Door w/ Sidelites is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pealing Primer Four years ago we purchased a Feather River door from Home Depot. As soon as the weather allowed, the door, sidelights, frame and jambs were coated with polyurethane. The doors and sidelights are still beautiful The jambs however are pealing. The factory applied primer is pealing and cracking. Feather River is denying any liability and Home Depot is following their example. Their supplier is more important than their customer. They are saying it is my problem because I applied polyurethane in place of paint. Buyer beware. They do not honor their warranty of ten years on the jambs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not infirmed Purchased the door because I love the fact that it was maintenance free- not true you need to seal. I was never told this and the door started to peel. So the company replaced the door but now the color doesn't match the sidelights. I also have a issue with the bottom seal it needs to be replaced for the second time. The door looked beautiful when first installed but not happy now. Also you are not given any information on what you to use to seal the door.
