Is it ok to put a full glass storm door in front of this door?

Is it ok to put a full glass storm door in front of this door?
Asked by: Martin
It is not recommended to put a non venting full view storm door over any fiberglass door due to the heat buildup created between the two doors. Overhangs and non southern exposure will limit the amount of heat buildup where in these situations you are probably ok. Still recommended to try to create air circulation at the top and bottom of the storm door to reduce heat buildup.

Customer Reviews

67.5 in.x81.625 in. 6 Lt Clear Craftsman Stained Chestnut Mahogany Left-Hand Fiberglass Prehung Front Door w/ Sidelites is rated 1.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Purchase. This door has been a nightmare for us. We had home depot install it the first time and the install went fine, the door itself was defective and so we had to get a replacement door. The grids on the door warp in sunlight, it looks cheap and terrible. I can stick my whole hand behind them. The silicon they used to seal the windows basically melt and ooze out onto the window, which is just lovely! We have no screen door, did not paint it or anything. This all happened the very first day we got it! Unreal. So hoping the first door was a "fluke" we agreed to have it replaced. Got the "new" one in today and it is worse than the first one. Same thing is happening with the grids and silicon. This time the installer (one from the feather river company itself) left many scratches on the door and installed our lock completely crooked and didn't even attach it securely to the door itself. Now we have to pay out of pocket for a brand new door before we are able to get a get a refund for this door. We did nothing wrong yet, the burden is all on us. Great customer service! This has been such a ridiculous situation and it just keeps getting worse. Save yourself the trauma and don't even get a feather river door.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed This is a beautiful door that makes the front of my house look amazing. The reason for the low rating is this door was very poorly constructed. The door bends in direct sunlight, which causes the seal to break and light can be seen from outside in the jamb allowing cold/warm air in. The doors bottom seal was cut 2 inches too short and allows cold air in. The caulking on the outside of the door is already peeling back after two months. The inside trim has already separated from the frame. If I wouldn't have installed this door already, I would return it. Luckily all of these issues are things I can fix myself the right way and the door will be perfectly fine in the long run. However, I shouldn't have to do these things with a brand new door. In the end, this is a beautiful door and I receive compliments on it all of the time. This door is unfortunately very poorly constructed. That's most likely why it was one of the cheapest options in the fiberglass door category. If you are handy and don't mind doing these things, then you should be fine. Unfortunately I do not recommend this door based on its poor quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Door! Just installed the door two days ago and thus far am very happy with the purchase. Installed very easily, and is constructed from materials that won't rot like the door I replaced. Totally changes the look of our home! The product was very well packaged, and the Home Depot associates that worked with me were very helpful. My only negative comments are that there are a couple of spots where they were a bit sloppy with adhesive, and also the glass in the panes is etched with the manufacturer name. So far so good!
