Product Overview

Simulate the brightness and vividness of natural daylight with this energy-efficient spiral CFL light bulb from Feit Electric. Each lamp puts out a substantial 2800-Lumens of light using just 40-Watt of power, consuming substantially less electricity than a 150-Watt incandescent equivalent. That translates to a savings of $96 in energy costs per bulb over its 8000-hour existence. The 6500K color temperature is stark and bright, suitable for any indoor or enclosed outdoor fixture that accepts a standard-sized E26 medium-bulb base such as this.

  • Brightness: 2800 Lumens
  • Estimated yearly energy cost: $4.82 (based on 3 hours/day, 11¢/kWh; cost depends on rates and use)
  • Life: 7 years (based on 3 hours/day)
  • Light appearance: 6500K (daylight)
  • Energy used: 40-Watt (equivalent to a 150-Watt standard incandescent light bulb)
  • Spiral shape with a medium base
  • FCC and RoHS compliant
  • Uses 73% less energy compared to a standard incandescent light bulb
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use

Customer Questions & Answers

Does 6500K mean 6500 lumins

Asked by: Kenneth
No. Lumens are a measure of brightness. Kalvin is a measure of temperature - in this case meaning color of the light produced. This bulb will produce extremely bright, "white" light. Some people find this type of light "harsh."

Does this bulb fully light right away?

Asked by: Queenie
Sometimes fluorescent bulbs take a little period of time to initially "break in". Then they usually pop on full strength.

Minimum start temperature

In the specifications section it says this is an indoor/outdoor bulb. What is the coldest temperature at which it will start? It gets cold outdoors here, sometimes to -10 degrees F. Will this bulb work here?
Asked by: Bill
Typically these ballast are now 0 degree,if they are it should be instant start.

need a smaller bulb

I need a smaller bulb with the same wattage. Can you suggest one for my needs?
Asked by: Queenie
THERE ARE MANY CFL SIZES AVAILABLE FROM 25 WATT (EQUIVALENT) ON UP. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO ILLUMINATE? IF IT IS A CLOSET OR SMALL STORAGE AREA, THE 25 WATT (EQUIVALENT) MAY BE ADEQUATE. I HAVE A 25 WATT LED ON IN MY GARAGE 24/7 TO ELIMINATE SWITCHING ON AND OFF THE NORMAL 2 TUBE FLUORESCENT FIXTURES JUST TO WALK AROUND, EMPTY THE TRASH, GET IN THE VEHICLES, ETC.

150W Equivalent Daylight (6500K) Spiral CFL Light Bulb is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 129.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from work great for indoor gardening I ordered 4 of these to start my tomatoes and peppers for the outdoor garden. These are very bright white with a touch of blue which is what young seedlings like. You could probably grow some plants to harvest with these if you added a few 2700k bulbs to the mix. I made a light fixture for them out of an old plastic garbage can lid and some lamp parts from the hardware store. the bulbs stay cool enough that I don't have to worry about melting. Plus, you can get the lights very close to the plants without burning them. This makes the plants short and strong instead of tall and spindly I read somewhere that these 42w bulbs give the best lumens per watt. I am very happy with this purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Daylight bulbs These bulbs are junk. I ordered 8 bulbs from Sylvania and they all worked fine. I needed more so I ordered 5 because that was the minimum order for free shipping (store didn't carry them). The store dropped Sylvania and replaced the manufacture with Feit .One of them didn't work out of the box. The other lasted about 2 hours. The store didn't give refunds, so I was out 20 bucks for junk bulbs. Feit can not compare to Sylvania. Sylvania bulbs are going strong and on their second year. I have other ones (same wattage, 200 watts) that have been working in another garage since these bulbs came out, that's been several years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bulb with a simple reflective socket did what I bought it for. I use it as a grow light for starting patio and garden seedlings. Full spectrum and low infrared gives the plants exactly what they need without the heat or stem elongating effects of incandescent lighting. Good on energy and reasonably priced, a must for every serious gardener. This bulb and reflector well light about 6 sq. feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is what you need to give your home enough light This is what you need because with the new technology and the new law about old bulbs going away, none of the newer ones with weaker wattage can give me enough light for my home. The 75 watts and even 100 watts bulbs in this class are not that bright. This one is very bright, 200 watts, but consumes much less than that in electricity. It is much more expensive, compared to the older bulbs, but it lasts much longer. So in the end, with the savings realized from lower power consumption, and longevity, it is right about the cost of the older bulb, or even cheaper. So I recommend it. dan le

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These CFL bulbs are great... They provide 2800 lumens of Blue spectrum light which is perfect for growing plants indoors. They consume very little energy (42 Watts). They are large bulbs and may not fit all lamps with a shade.
