Customer Questions & Answers

How do you remove burn out bulb?

Asked by: trailcat
It should pull straight out. Because the wires are wider at the bottom, they it can take more of a pull than you think would be necessary.

The same bulb position has just burned out for the second time in about a year and a half. Now can't get new bulb to go into socket.

I had a heck of a time getting the old bulb out, but finally did. I can't get the new one to go in now. It feels kind of gritty in the socket or something. I'm afraid to break the bulb if I push too hard. Any assistance appreciated!

I have had the same problem. I have a feeling it is due to the bulb manufacturing. There should be a warranty on the bulb packaging. With respect to not being able to replace the bulb, make sure that there is nothing left in the socket (wire, dirt, glass, etc). Make sure the power is off and use canned air (the same used to clean computers and keyboards) to clean out the base. Use a bright flashlight to shine into the base while carefully looking for debris.

I can get the bulbs out, I must use a cloth when replacing bulbs. I just cannot get bulbs back in.

You can use your fingers, but you need to wipe any oil/dirt off the bulb before you turn it on. Also, you may consider using rubber "surgical" gloves.

When I opened the light kit to put it in (the box had been taped when I purchased the last fixture) two of the bulbs were bent and would not go into the fixture. I had to replace them at $6.00 each. This obviously added to the cost of the fixture.

Well, I'll have to buy another one, because as I was installing the bottom end broke off into the receptacle. Not sure why, I suspect there was a crack in the glass. I'm not sure if the bulb works well, but so far $7 and it broke, so I'll try again and update my review.
