I use them for controlled grazing of my steers on irrigated pasture, and place them 12 to 15 yards apart, with a top and a middle poly hot wire.

Answer:
I usually go about 8 ft. I've only hung bird mesh, snow fencing, light strings and lightweight tubing on mine. There's room to play, though. Stiffer materials you could probably string farther apart. With saggy bird netting I kept the distance between 6 and 8 ft.

The spacing of posts will vary depending on many factors including the type of animal being contained, and the terrain. Please contact us at 1-855-5-FISHOCK (1-855-534-7462) for additional assistance in determining the spacing needed.

Answer:
I have installed them as little as 4 feet up to 10 yards apart. We use these as a temporary border around our football field with steel posts on all four corners, hence the 10 yards. They bend but don't break and the clips give the cord(s) good support.

They'll do in a pinch but I'd think of a more permanent solution. These could be knocked down, maybe not by a chicken, but by a big dog, sure.

What is the plastic material used for these posts? I am concerned about UV damage over time. Can you provide any specifications on UV resistance for each color offered?

Answer:
This is a $5 post. It's meant to flex and will break when bent too far. I'm not looking to see if it will last for years so being UV tolerant is not a concern. The plastic it's made of seems to hold up well, no matter what color (black or white). I use it to string some nylon rope around a football field for three months, then gets stored in a shed.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by easy easy easy light, easy to put into ground, ,and there are little plastic caps on the sharp ends so you don't hurt yourself. Not a lot to say but I installed these quickly and easily. Lightweight yet sturdy. January 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Inexpensive, easy to use, quick fencing solution The fence post is easy to place with a single step (or two if there's rocks). Once they are in place there are several choices for the height of your fence. Need to move it? Lift it out and step it in a few feet over... Works great and very economical. January 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for temporary fencing Easy to set up and stay upright . Very happy with this purchase. December 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Height misleading The overall size of what I received was not 48" and the height from the ground up was barely 3 feet. October 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the price. If you keep in mind what these are for, temporary lightweight fencing that you can throw in fast and remove just as quickly, you're less apt to be disappointed. I've used them to make a fence around my blueberry and strawberry garden. When the berries are done, I take the fence down. I've used some as temporary plant supports. I've hung tubing for a misting system on them that I set up on a hot day while I was doing some gardening. Took it down when I was done. I've hung garden decorations and solar light strings on them. They're made of plastic and they have some flex to them. If you string them too tightly they'll flex. If you try to stomp them through a rock, you could break the plastic "pedal" part. Ive been using these a couple years now. One has a small broken part but is still usable. They're just handy to have around. August 30, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for the price I bought these electric wire fence posts to enclose a small seasonal garden that is visited by rabbits, squirrels and birds, so I really wasn't needing any strength or durability. The posts work well for my application. July 1, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NO, NO, NO!!! Well, folks, these posts are the CHEAPEST step-in posts out there. They're also the WORST by far. Pay one more dollar and you'll be way happier. The plastic from which these posts are made is too brittle, allowing the tabs and step-in ledges to break off over and over. I have the other brands of plastic step-in posts and they are MUCH more reliable than the Fi-Shock. These are an ABSOLUTE WASTE of money. October 25, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Black Plastic Fence posts work fine for temporary stuff Fence posts work fine for temporary stuff but wont keep even a medium size dog fenced in if they really want to get out... December 9, 2014
