I am going to be remodeling a mobile home, and I want to remove the strips that are between all the wall panels as I want to paint, and I don't like the strips. Would this product work to seal the gaps between the wall panels, after I remove the strips ? If it would, what are some helpful hints to accomplish my project ? And if it won't work, what product would work ? I appreciate any input !! Thanks !!!

MamacUSA.......Some of it is actual sheet rock, that has a layer on the top that looks like it is a wallpaper, but it is how it was made in the factory. The stuff in the bathroom appears to be more of a wallboard type product, not sheet rock, so it is thinner. I did fill cracks in 2 walls years ago, and they stayed good, other than they got very narrow cracks were all the seams are. I am wanting to repaint those walls, after I figure out if this product will ward off any further cracks, and then I have other walls I want to take the strips off of. I do not have access to pictures at this time, as it is in North Dakota, and I am in Kansas. Thank You for your input, and I will watch for more ideas from you.

Asked by: Ruralman
Where and for what are you going to use this cement board and thinset? For a bathroom or kitchen is better if you use nails or screws.

Extra Strength 250 ft. Self-Adhesive Mesh Drywall Joint Tape FDW8550-U is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tape for Certain Situations I did professional tape-and-bed work about 25 years ago. I don't know off-hand, but I hung and finished over ten thousand sheets of drywall. Heck, maybe a lot more than that. I just don't remember how much. Anyway, back then we didn't use the mesh tape all that much. It didn't work all that well, and we were good enough to use regular old paper tape for almost anything. I got out of the business and haven't kept up with the new products. So, I'm finishing my garage/workshop these days and decided to try this tape. In short, it's excellent. I'm going to use it everywhere on my project. It's a smallish project at about 1400 square feet with 9 and 12 foot ceilings. But, this stuff works great. I've had it up for a few weeks now to see if it would hold and it does like a champ. This might not be the perfect product for the pro in all situations, as the pro might have some specialized equipment to run paper tape quick-and-easy. But, for those vaulted ceilings and such, this would be a winner. For the DIY person, this is the go-to tape. Stick it down and hit it with mud when you are ready.

It has a mixture of plaster and drywall and I wanted a product that could help hold 100 year old plaster together. The common mesh joint tape does not have the superior adhesive quality that this mesh has. Also, the FibaTape seems stronger than the average mesh joint tape. I have used it where drywall meets plaster and it worked splendidly! I've already gone through six buckets of mud and I'm on my third or fourth roll of Fibatape over the past month or so. I plan to use this product exclusively in the immediate future as I repair my grandpa's house! It's a great product!

Still no more sticky than any other brands. Okay for small patch / repairs, but I’ll stay “ Old School “, and keep using setting compound and paper tape.

Other fiber tapes have not held up as good as this fiber tape especially on butt joints and in angles. I only use quick set compound and can finish jobs quicker.
