The base arrived on time for our BBQ just as they said it would. The packing was torn but the base was just fine. It's heavy! It will hold the umbrella upright without the assistance of a table just fine except during those infrequent gusts. It's been on our back patio now for weeks and has held the folded umbrella just fine under all kinds of winds.

This is a perfect Base. It is heavy, but perfect for the umbrella.

This umbrella stand does well in holding my patio umbrella steady, even in a stiff breeze.

Let me start by saying this thing is HEAVY. Moving it from the front porch to the backyard was no easy task, and I'm a strong guy. However, the weight has proven itself over and over in the heavy Oklahoma winds this year. The assemble was easy once I found the hidden parts box in the Styrofoam packing. I like that it has an insert if you have an umbrella with a smaller support pole. The locking device is simple, but works if tightened down hard.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Jade Heavy, as promised! Should keep the umbrella and table in place.
I was advised to get an umbrella stand of at least 50 pounds to keep the umbrella and table stable in winds.
Winds we have on this hilltop.
The base is heavy enough to do the job.
Definitely the way to go for stability.
Still is a good idea to collapse the umbrella when not in use, or when high wind is expected.
