Slant Fin 30 Series baseboard is designed to have enough space above the element to accomidate a return line. In fact the brackets that hold the damper are notched for just this purpose. If you do this i have a best practice to share with you. Make sure the return pipe is supported with pipe hangers, in order to prevent low and high spots where air will collect. Also make sure these hangers are not to tight. When the 180F water starts to flow the pipe will expand rapidly and if the hangers are to tight you will get noise. Read Less

I do not know how your system is plumbed so it is hard for me to tell you what your specific problem is. But let me give you some basic information. When you run hot water through a pipe the pipe will get hot. Heat chases cold. So if you have a heating line that is not getting warm you most likely are not getting flow. The most likely reason for that is an air bubble. The pumps on heating systems are very low energy. If a air bubble accumulates in the system the pump will compress it but not push it down to the air removal devise at the boiler. This is called being air bound. Your system should have been laid out with valves that allow you to purge the zone. It is hard to describe this process in writing, but I have seen some good videos on youtube as to how to do it. If you would like to talk about this give me a call. Chris 978 651 3301 Read Less

Answer:
Slant Fin 30 Series baseboard uses element that is ¾”. ¾” copper can carry 45,000 BTU’s and hour. ½” can carry 12,000 and 1” can carry 80,000. Remember that the capacity of the zone will be limited by its weakest link. So if you change the base board to ¾ from ½ but leave the ½ supply pipe you are still limited to 12,000 BTU’s an hour. Running the water through the pipe faster has no effect. If you have Read More

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice looking heat Replaced old radiant baseboard heaters for looks, got more efficient heating in my house. For a really reasonable cost December 29, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by beat up from shipping Works fine but the hole thing is very fragile. If It's all you can find and it's in the store get it but if you have to have it shipped it will come out of the box all beat up. I read this in another review but got it any way. Works but cheaply made the copper in the center will bend. I'm Not a pro but don't think that's good. The cover Is cheaply made as well. Works good in my basement. December 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good product but very poorly packaged I have installed many of these. Good baseboard. Just make sure you buy them off the shelf so that you are able to inspect the condition of the product. They are absolutely not packaged for shipping a single unit. January 8, 2013
