Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pleased with purchase The heater arrived without damage. It was not too difficult to assemble, but the instructions would be improved with better diagrams/photos of how to orient the parts (so 4 stars instead of 5). So far, have only used it once for a dinner party on a cool summer evening, but we were very pleased with the result. It nicely warmed everyone at the table where 6 people were having dinner. The heater is perfect for taking the chill off when we want to dine outside on a cool summer evening. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works well Bought this to use in my 3-season screened porch in New England, wanting to extend the porches seasons. It heats nicely and allows sitting in comfort when it otherwise be too cold to use the porch. Seems reasonably well constructed. June 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Heater Replaced gas heater for patio use in MN. So far Spring cool nights this heater did the trick. I have seen infra-reds in commercial use and was glad to find one for personal usage. June 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A good electric patio heater w/assy. challenges Overall, a good electric patio heater with challenges getting up & running.. Application: I live in a high-rise condo in a chilly/windy area, and gas patio heaters are not allowed. I wanted something to break the chill on my outdoor patio. Experience: Self-assembly a minor challenge: The illustrations in the paper manual are just a bit too fuzzy to clearly make out a few things. The electrical cord routing took a bit to figure out. One Phillips head screw on the head unit was so firmly in place that I was afraid I would strip the head. Luckily, I could complete the assembly without loosening that one screw. Maybe I'll try again in a week or so... Heater did not work initially. (No heat, lighted on/off switch on stand was not lit up.) Contacted Technical Support who sent a replacement bulb. Upon disassembling the unit to install the bulb, I saw that one of the electrical connections had not been made. I made the connection, reassembled the heater head, and the unit then worked. I have used the heater for 3 nights now. Heat generation is OK (perhaps a bit lower than expected given the size of the unit – but this is my first patio heater). Pro Looks good on patio. Appears sturdy. Modest cost. Tech Support. Con Condition from factory (not fully assembled). Difficulty of assembly. May 14, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bulb Issues I recommend waiting until the bulb technology improves. I’ve had my Fire Sense IR heater for many years and the bulbs are a real problem. Each time I replace a bulb I have to go back and forth with Fire Sense multiple times before finally getting a bulb that lasts more than a few hours. At one point I even got bulbs that overheated, melted the bulb wires, and eventually ruined the power connections in the unit. They claim it’s more cost effective than propane, but I doubt they’re factoring in the $65 replacement bulbs along with the electricity. When they burn out quickly you’ll have to explain why it’s not your fault, in my case I know it isn’t because I’ve had bulbs last well over a year and many hours. I finally gave up after my last burn out but I may try again in a few years if the technology improves. March 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Outdoor living extended!! We have had an infrared heater for several years. This product is sturdy and looks like part of the decor!! It extends our outdoor living!! April 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Heater for Arizona We live in Arizona, and I get cold at 68 degrees(dryheat). This infrared heater works well until below 45 degrees, at that point we add our other patio heater, the LP one that we got from Fire Sense also. With both of them on, we can remain comfortable until the freezing mark(which has not happened yet - 37 degrees so far). We love this infrared heater because all you do is plug it in. So much faster than other, and does not use the LP. We were shocked just how well made the new infrared heater is, the telescoping metal is extremely thick. It appears that this year will be unusualy cold, and we are ready! We smoke outside, and the two heaters make it so much better! December 3, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Heater I felt that the directions to put the heater together were a bit difficult to read. It would have helped if they were in color possibly. Also, we have the heater in our house at the moment and have not tested it outside, but it seems to heat our kitchen table area sufficiently. It keeps the kids warm so I dont have to run the HVAC heater so much. January 31, 2016
