We received our first Bon Fire Pit as an award choice from WellsFargo about 5 years ago and have enjoyed many outdoor fires with the product. Size and portability make this pit stand out, but because it's raised off the ground the heat hits you perfectly as you sit around it in a camping chair. When you put the top on, even more heat is felt by all sitting around the pit because no upward heat is lost. Last advantage is that when the logs burn down some and you are ready to go inside, you can remove the screen and put the top over the base which allows the fire to be safely snuffed out without worry of leaving an unattended campfire. This also leaves half burnt coals for your next campfire.
We recently purchased another Bon Fire Pit for our retirement home.

My biggest complaint is how small some of the illustrations are in the instructions. I know my eyes aren't as good as they use to be, but I had to get a magnifying glass to see some of the details. There also should be some instructions on leaving the bolts a little loose on the screen until it has been adjusted to fit the bottom bowl and then for adjusting to fit the top lid.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by highlander74 Cheap piece of junk
We bought this fire pit to replace an identical one that had been used for years. The new one is a piece of junk. The pit and lid are extremely thin. The whole mechanism is not sturdy. The mesh ring does not fit on the pit very well. The mesh ring is peeling with one or two fires. The door on the mesh ring is very cheaply made. Can't use it. Have to lift the lid. Putting in new wood often moves the ring off the pit piece. The wood handle is burning with each subsequent fire. We plan on returning this and staying with the old one.

A little disappointed. The fire pit is really light when compared to the old one that finally died. The metal is thinner and I am not expecting the longevity to be as good as the last one.

I purchased this item to replace an older one just like it. The gauge of the metal on this one is not as thick as the old one I had, so I don't anticipate this one lasting 15 years like may last one did. Just like everything else, it seems to be made to only last a few years. The latch on the cage door doesn't work very well. It opens too easily and opens when you don't want it to, like when you are rolling the unit to a new spot. We will be fixing that somehow. All-in-all though, it's as good as any others that are available now and one of the only ones I found with wheels so you can easily move it to where you want it.

I used this unit one time and already the wood grate is bowing and warping. To top it off ., while shopping elsewhere, I found an exact identical unit for exactly half the price.

Easy to assemble, the little door makes it easy to roast marshmallows/hotdogs. We had a brick, below ground firepit and we like this one much better! Since it is raised off of the ground the heat radiates out to the sides where we are sitting and keeps us warmer. Great price for a nice product.

This product was easy to assemble and looked like what I ordered. This issues I had were first, it was a gift and I had it sent to the persons house (my mom) to be wrapped later, thinking it would be a non-descriptive box. It had a giant picture of what was on it. Ok, at least I received the right item. The issue I have with the construction of the pit is that the screen is not connected in anyway to the base or top. Additionally, the latch does not work well since the metal is not rounded enough to complete the circle of the base, so the two doors do not reach each other without squeezing the outside of the pit. This works when there is no fire, but I imagine it will be a pain once the fire is burning. That being said, the construction was easy and straight forward, it looks to function as directed, it is light enough for my mom to move around the backyard and it was a good price.
