Three foot of clearance is the standard recommendation for propane patio heaters. The very hot air immediately begins to rise as soon as it reaches the outer edge of the reflector, and could damage any structure above the unit.

Answer: 
Two screened sides will provide plenty of ventilation. The important thing to remember is that you need a minimum of 3 foot of clearance above the unit to the ceiling. If you do not have the clearance, this unit is not going to work in that setting.
