Can this be used on a deck (which is made of wood)? I know it can be used on patio because most patios are made of cement, brick, etc.

Answer:
Sure....it is an outdoor heater. There is no heat generated from the bottom of the unit and it is advertised as having a tip over switch to turn the gas off if it tips over.
I would caution about leaving it outside with any heavy breeze as the welds holding the post and top are not that strong and will eventually break resulting in the post and top falling over.

Kind of a pain to haul it in when it gets breezy but it does have wheels to assist. Read Less

Hi,
The 41,000 is not a Fire Sense heater. Ours is the 46,000 commercial.
Thank you.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 88 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poorly Built I have had two of these units for about 1 1/2 years. The lower post is connected to a plate with four small welds. With any amount of wind (or strong breeze) the top moves back and forth. The four little welds don't hold up and eventually break allowing your top and post to fall over. This should have been designed differently especially at a point of tension. I have had to install a stronger slip pipe inside the post and re-weld in several places. This was not the most expensive heater by any means and I believe you get what you pay for, but if you don't have the ability or desire to strengthen this unit and plan to leave it outside (even covered) when you have a breeze, I would pass on this unit or manufacturer. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Propane Heater This is our third Fire Sense 46,000 BTU propane heater and they work great. They always start up right away and put out a lot of heat. We have had other brands and always have problems with ignitors, but not with Fire Sense 46,000. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by More than Expected Ordered this for an outdoor event in December. It said it was commercial grade but I wasn't sure what that meant. Now I know and it truly is much better built and sturdier than others I have seen. After ordering this one I saw many more for a much lower price but upon looking closer they were not as high BTU's and didn't say Commercial. Glad I went with the better product. The only down side was I was grateful that my husband was available to put it together. It took him more than an hour to assemble. January 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Keeps us Warm We purchased through Costco. Took about an hour to build, but was pretty straightforward. Very easy to use. Keeps our patio so warm! We used to have to go inside once the sun set, but now we can use our patio well into the evening. All our friends want one now. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product, good value We have had this patio heater for more than a week. It works as advertised and makes our patio usable in cool Seattle evenings. Assembly was very easy and straight forward. The illustrations (photos) which were supposed to aid in assembly were not very useful but were really not needed. I am pleased with this purchase- good value and function. August 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stopped working After a few months it will not light when cold. Lighting it with a lighter through the hole works but is really inconvenient. Once it is hot the igniter works fine. It gives really great heat but that is worth nothing if it won't turn on. Great build quality. Again pointless when it won't turn on. Really really disappointed. February 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great heaters I bought 5 of these heaters for my backyard area and was so happy with them that i got another 2 for my daughters backyard. July 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Purchase for Two Places I bought two of these heaters...this is the second. The first is on our ground-level patio. This one, on our deck. Both of them extend the time we can spend outdoors in Michigan. Easy assembly after the product was delivered without a scratch. East to use and operate. Can't beat the output and the height.
