The 4-inch tiled edge of this fire pit offers a safety feature from a hot fire bowl.
We've thoroughly enjoyed the features of this round fire pit, that we bought another for my folks newly built home. They've got a large yard and this unit works out in the grass or up on the cement patio. The fire screen helps to protect us and their grandchildren from the hot coals that sometimes pop out from burning wood. The tiled edge doubles as a perfect place to set drinks.
*Burning wood is not preferable on a wooden deck or near
anything flammable, since hot coals may pop unexpectedly. Use the screen cover for the most protection.

Lovely item out of the box. However, exposed to the summer elements (brief rain showers, humidity) within a few days began to show signs of rusting on the (metal) natural stone-look mantel. Grate rusts easily. Needs a drain hole in the ash pan so rain water does not accumulate.
For the money quality could be better.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by 10issue cheaply built
The pieces to the firepit are stamped slightly off so not all of the holes line-up. This makes inserting and tightening all the bolts impossible - no matter how we configured it. It was frustrating but not so much that it was worth the hassel of shipping back.

The painted grout lines started peeling off almost immediately creating quite a mess. The pit will be fine as soon as I am able to get rid of all the white paint, but right now it looks very shabby.
