Wasn't sure what all the hype was about with this thing. Had to find out. At first glance it's obvious that the metal grill is flimsy and will shortly need a replacement. This grill is a bit of a novelty and not really practical unless you have a dedicated place to store it out of the weather. A cover would be nice. Far better to spend some extra and get one of the Homping grills if 'small' is what you're shooting for.
At this writing I'm trying to return it but HD doesn't seem to place importance on prompt returns. It's been three weeks and no return label. I've called twice and chatted once. Something's broken with their return protocol.

I love cooking with charcoal or over a fire. Gas grills are convenient but don't give the same flavor of wood or charcoal and there's always a cold spot. This grill heats evenly and does a good job. I would recommend a lid for this grill.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SFla886 Round Grill - Better than expected.
After reading previous reviews, I admit I had reservations about this grill. These were easily overcome. I received the grill yesterday and used it to cook chicken. It did an excellent job. It's true that cooking may take more time than you are accustomed to but the food comes out thoroughly cooked - without being thoroughly "dried out". This, to me, is an excellent compromise.
I'm glad I bought it and would highly recommend it for anyone who is only cooking for 1 or 2 people. BTW - I did not actually count the pieces but I'm sure I used less than 20 briquettes. This is an added bonus as a 7 pound bag will last a long time.

The grill work very well, but a change from Weber Grills. It takes more attention to start than a larger grill, but uses far less charcoal than a bigger grill. The absence of a lid is no problem. I asked the distributor for a recommendation for a cover, no response, a small plastic shopping bag works well. The metal grill is a little "flimsy" but inverting it and stepping on the center corrects the "sag". It is susceptible to water, so don't leave outside uncovered.

I've had this grill for a couple of weeks now. I've used it most every night. This is an amazing grill. I've tried to figure out exactly why its so different than my large grill and here's what I've decided. First of all I stopped using the charcoal chimney to start the charcoal and here's what I found out. By using the chimney the charcoal were all white hot by the time I poured them into the grilled. Well, the small grill uses much fewer briquettes so I use a fire starter so the charcoal is still smokey which give the food a much better flavor. Next the food is so close to the hot coals that it cooks much faster searing the outside with that crunchy mouth watering exterior while leaving the interior moist and juicy. Seriously, you need to try this grill. You will be amazed.

Have only used the hibachi a few times, but it is perfect for East Asian table top cooking. Just the size. It is well made and meets my expectation

Solid grill, holds the heat and very easy to use. We have a large Weber for the big family days, and this is perfect for those in between times.
