Not a direct replacement for the older model as claimed. AC power connector different. This unit was supposed to include a jumper cable with the new connector but that was missing. I had to jury rig to make it work.

I had on of the smoke alarms go bad in my home. I decided to replace all of them. This was the best value.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Iceman Solved the problem, but not without a minor glitch
Ordered this specific model to replace identical model# in my system. However, it was not exactly plug and play. The manufacturer has changed the pigtail connector, so I had to remove the existing connector and replace with the new one. While not a difficult task, it only required removing the three wire nuts and installing the new connector, This is not a difficult task for some, but most purchasers may need to call a qualified electrician.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Paula Our Electrician says these are the best.
We bought 10 or 14, I forget, had them installed by our electrician so that they are all connected so that if one goes off in the basement you can hear the others go off upstairs, and visa versa (our house has 3 floors/levels), plus they have backup batteries in case of electrical outages. He says they are the good ones to get. We haven't had any fires, but the one time when I was cooking/grilling things in my kitchen..it got a bit smokey and one went off on alarm. Had to silence it with the swishing of a towel, but that's probably a good thing. Made me know it was working. Since they were just installed last month, I can't comment on their long term attributes. But they seem quite good.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by LG123 disappointed
This is the third replacement of the same item, in which the second was also purchased at Home Depot. The quality of the item is poor, as the latch breaks too easily, which needs to be opened and closed at every six month battery change. Unfortunately due to fire codes, it is placed high up on the ceiling, so it's not a matter of just changing out the batteries, because it means you have to hire someone everytime with a very tall ladder, if you have tall ceilings. I would recommend a smoke alarm of better quality, if it exists, and one that is compatible with the system.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Clay They don't seem to set-up/work properly, very difficult.
I have five of these 'interconnected' smoke-alarms in my home. One started chirping...I guessed it needed a battery. I installed a battery... the smoke-alarm kept chirping. I bought a new battery and installed it.... the smoke-alarm kept chirping. How long will this go on... it seems like "for eternity"!
I find devices that don't work per the advertisemnets and directions very disheartening. I would not again, buy these detectors.
PS: its still chirping... even with a new battery!!!! I may have to 'cut' the wires... and then replace the smoke-alarms
PPS: I'm a qualified fire protection engineer (which makes this problem into a serious situation for me)... how can I recommend such a device?).

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 1937 Would not stop chirping
Replaced battery and it was OK for a few hours and started chirping. Repeated a second time and the same thing happened. So buying a new one. The same model (different number) to be compatible with others and fit on the base already installed.
2.5 years since installation.
