CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 34 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product for replacing contractor/builder 10 yr old plus detectors easy to install and just what I wanted to replace 10yr old plus detectors that were only ionization only. This detector porovides ionization, photoelectric sensors plus battery back up. June 10, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by great features, questionable life I've been putting these in my rentals over the years as appreciate the feature set to protect my tenants. That being said, these appear to be designed to have a 5yr lifespan, plus or minus a year, and they start to consistently fail. I would normally have no issue with this if it was a reasonable limit on detector, but clearly it is not (I'd expect 10-15yrs). Once you understand this, can figure out for yourself what the real value is. The feature set is excellent, the lifespan not so much. October 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Protection This dual sensor smoke detector is highly rated by Consumer Reports. The model is hardwired. As long as the power remains on, the unit continues to provide protection even if the backup battery is fully discharged. December 18, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Replacement for Contractor Grade I purchased a three of these to replace the contractor grade smoke detectors that were installed when the house was built. I thought it would be a good idea to have a dual sensor vice the less expensive smoke detectors. I purchased these last year (Feb 2013) and I had one fail a couple of nights ago. False alarm at around 11 PM and then again at 3 AM. Not something you'd want to wake up to. Replacing the battery did not help. Neither did cleaning the unit. I found the instruction booklet which contain the warranty information (10 year), but... really? I have to ship the unit to Kiddie, show proof of purchase (which I can't find the receipt), and pay for postage to/from Kiddie. In the mean time I'm without a smoke detector? Are you kidding me? I expected that a smoke detector and cost over $30 last more that 10 months. I am going to attempt to contact the manufacturer's customer service for assistance. December 2, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by So far so good Replace a whole house of builder grade smoke detectors that were almost 10 years old. These went in easily except for 1 (out of 8). For this one the wiring clip didn't fit very well in the back of the smoke detector. Finally got the clip in by using a large amount of force. I was worried I might break the detector but it seems to be working fine. So far no false alarms. September 16, 2014
