I bought the 6 pack of these even though I only have 5 in my home because it was cheaper. I bought them because I am painting my home (ceilings/walls/trim) and I wanted white smoke detectors to match the freshly painted ceiling. The previous ones were not completely white (you know what I'm talking about) but instead like they had yellowed. The smoke detectors were installed in 2005, so these were 8 years old anyway. So buying was not a waste in my opinion. They hooked up with my old wiring flawlessly. Much cleaner, and the battery is now accessible on the front instead of me having to unscrew anything. Would I recommend these? You bet.

The product arrived on time and in great condition. Installation was a breeze even for someone with minimal electrical experience. My old detectors would go off every time my wife would cook, while the only time the new one went off is when I cooked. It's easy pause button allowed me to reset the unit without it going off every 30 seconds

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Demo Easy upgrade for whole house when old units ar at end of life
The battery door is accessible without removing the unit from its mounting plate, and that was my main reason for purchasing these. The low battery warning in my previous alarms always seemed to occur when I was out of town, and my wife always struggled with replacing the batteries. These are dirt-simple to replace the batteries, and take 5 minutes to install despite have to re-terminate the connector. If you're comfortable stripping wire, just cut off the old incompatible connector and attach the new one included in the box. I don't use adapter harnesses because connectors are usually the first thing to fail.

My home is 12 years old and I am the second owner. I noticed that one of the smoke alarms had been changed in my daughter room, but didnât think twice about it. Then about 6 weeks ago I heard this piercing noise coming from one of the smoke detectors, I then waited for the sound again to find and replace the battery, well nothing happened. A week later on a Monday the noise came again, I waited for the noise again, but nothing. Went to sleep and at 2:30 in the morning, Oh Boy, that piercing noise was coming from all the smoke alarms connected to the house. Talk about jumping out of bed, running around in a circle until I could fully understand what was happening, get my bearings and then trying to remove all 6 of them on all 3 levels of the house, upstairs, downstairs, and basement. So, then next day I did what anyone would do, replace all the batteries and put them back. No, no, no, these have 7-10 year expiration on themâ¦.I wish I knew that before, no one ever tells the new guy. Well, my wife was rudely awakened at 5:30am the next morningâ¦I leave to work at 5am and she is not as mobile as I am, sorry honey. So I bought the 6 pack after a little research, still though I needed to replace only one, but no, no, no, changed all of them, had to replace the connector which were not hard at all, possitive, negative, then groundâ¦or was that the other way, instructions are easy to follow. Really it was easy, about 5 minutes each. The batteries were included in each one. The front access is really nice and easy to open and close. Now everything is working great, no early morning wake-ups. Wow, I feel I should get paid for this. I hope this is helpful to the next persons sleep.
