The Fireplace Plug will cover and seal the damper completely from below and fits most brick fireplaces correctly. The edges curl down the back and sides of the fireplace for smaller fireplaces.
Here are some tips to assist with the install:
1. Install the plug under the damper, not up in the chimney.
2. Inflate the plug (about 10 breaths of air) so it is full of air but very soft. Insert the plug and adjust the pole height so the plug is 2-3" below contact with the damper. Adjust the pole to install the plug in a "V" not a "^". Then tuck the front and back of the pillow up and add a little more air so it seals.
3. Adjust the air pressure. If you put in too much air, it can become stiff and not seal. The air pressure can be adjusted so the plug will conform to the shape of the fireplace and seal tightly.
A small slit can be made in the plug to accommodate a damper handle. BEFORE MAKING ANY SLIT FOR THE DAMPER HANDLE, trial fit the plug. If the damper handle is in the way, test fit it first by opening the damper to move the handle; or remove the handle temporarily. Read Less

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 147 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works great The product came in fast and works like a charm. Was getting a draft that just wouldn't quit in my basement, and now, nothing. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Energy Saver I purchased this product to keep heat from escaping through the chimney. It is easy to install and works very well. March 1, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It's ok but not that great It serves it purposes to stop the draft, but not all the draft. There are still some draft around the perimeter so I used old t-shirts to seal the openings. March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by flue block is really good at blocking the flue and keeping the cold out side March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product performed as advertised I found the Battic Plug online and installed it as soon as it arrived. I have severe heat loss in my cabin, with a very inefficient fireplace. We have had one of the coldest winters on record. The Battic Plug definitely is keeping the draft to a minimum, and keeping my inside stone wall much warmer. I monitor this constantly with an infrared heat sensor. Since I am the installer (smaller female), I recommend safety glasses, work gloves, and a work shirt -- because I needed to climb partway in the fireplace to tuck in the corners and sides of the plug, and I got debris in my eyes, plus sooty hands. Just didn't have the arm reach necessary inside my fireplace. I removed the plug for a fire on Sunday, and am glad to say it was even easier to reinstall on Monday. January 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No more heat escaping Product works as promised. Easy to assemble with high quality parts. My family room feels warmer. February 11, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works But Overpriced Ordered online and picked up from store. Box was open making it suspect that all pieces were in the box. Product works as advertised but is cheaply made and parts don't fit well. It does block the flue drafts. January 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reduced drafts The plug had very clear instructions, was easy to install and has reduced the cold drafts in the living room. January 26, 2016
