Answer:
Yes, most likely they would protect against splinters. a very big one below the reinforced finger tips or on the back of the glove might get you.

Answer:
Well, sorta.... I have grabbed many a thorn branches and most of the time you can feel something but definitely better than nothing.
I wouldn't go grabbing and squeezing. it would hurt. and just sticking your hands into thorns, there are protection for your knuckles that wouldn't be penetrated but everywhere else you would feel it.

Customer Reviews

X-Large Heavy Duty Work Gloves (1-Pair) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 145.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok I guess I bought these to take on a mission trip to Africa. We were building a house for a missionary's family. They use a lot of bricks for outside walls. The brick is the WHOLE wall. They weigh about 10 to 12lbs each. Within the first 3 days, the extra protective cover on the fingers had worn off or torn. Since then, I mainly use them for yard work and they have held up.... ok. most fingertips have now worn down or through but the palms are still ok and I like the knuckle protectors. I also do some close quarters wood work and that feature really helps. So, for the cost, I would expect more but I still like the gloves.

As stated in multiple other reviews, the fingertips don't last but a day or two. I moved up to these after trying the general purpose gloves of the same brand. I only used these for about a week moving deck boards and underlayment, running power tools and moving some office cubicles. Definitely not worth even paying $5 for these as they're absolute junk. Thanks Home Depot!

I really like the features of this glove, from the plastic discs that protect your knuckles to the rubber strips that protect the back of your fingers. The issue I have is the seams on the fingers seem to wear out prematurely. I will be returning these for another pair in the hope that it might be an isolated situation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love these gloves The good: These gloves protect my hands like no other while being extremely lightweight and easy to work with The bad: After a few years of heavy lawn work they needed to be replaced (but I was happy enough with them to buy another pair!) And, for those who care, they are not touchscreen friendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty Heavy duty. Rugged stylish. I use them as driving gloves in my 18 wheeler but they're so thick I may use them for just the outside truck work. Very nice look and feel. Runs a little bigger than I expected bc my hands are big, yet they fit well.

The only reason I do not give 5 stars is because there is a little too much material in the end of the fingers which makes it hard to use your phone while wearing them, and they offer little relief from cold tempuratures.

The gloves as Gloves are fine, however, they worked for touch phone for about 1 day and haven't worked on phone since!!! Again, as far as gloves go they're fine but do not buy for touch phone compatibility as they are a complete let down!
