Can you just use a 9V Lithium battery within the 9120B?

I mean replacing the 9120B with a 9120LB to get longer batter life makes no sense. Should be able to just replace the normal 9V battery with a Lithium 9V battery in the 9120B and the voltage magnitude will be the same and the life should be longer too.

The webpage says nothing about a reset or hush button, and what it does say implies it is not hush-able ("Alarm/Detector Features ... No Additional Features ").

This is the information that I have received from someone familiar with both models:
if you purchase the 9120LB online at Home Depot all you need do is unscrew the old 9120B, unplug the detector and plug in the new 9120LB, screw in the new 9120LB after pulling the tab activating the lithium battery that comes with the detector. The base on the new is the same as the old detector.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by First Alert 9120LB I replaced all 10 of old smoke detectors with this model. 3 have failed within 14 months - started chirping; even replaced with new battery-no dice. I replaced all 3 with the same model. Two of those 3 have failed and of course they were the highest ones over 25 feet. May 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Smoke Alarm Replaced my old one of 3 years with the same model January 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad from the start Bought these to replace the ones that went bad (alarms started going off 3am for NO reason) . After changing base to fit these (new ones) - I plugged it in and it started CHIRPING within 2 minutes ! ! And it never stopped ! I will definitely RETURN the both of them . I think I'll go with battery powered only and a different brand this time - but I've seen a lot of bad reviews from the Kidde brand as well , so I 'll probably stay away from those as well . Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Upgrade from D Battery Backup My 9120B smoke detectors turned 10 this year, so I decided to replace all 5 of them with new lithium battery backup models. The wiring and the plastic mounting rings for both models are the same, so I was able to simply (turn off power) twist off the old units, pop off the wires and plug them into the new unit, and then twist on the new units. Everything tested fine, and now I won't have to deal with low battery chirps every 6 months. January 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Up to date protection, easy to install This was a replacement for a 10 year old unit, it was a piece of cake to put in. The bezel that mounts to the ceiling was just slightly larger than the original so it covered the slight indent left by the original. Honestly I think this took about 10 minutes to have fully operational, that included opening the package and glancing at the instructions. March 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SMOKE ALARM / FIRST ALERT EASY TO INSTALL & WORKS REALLY GOOD. FOR A REPLACEMENT UNIT FOR ANY BRAND YOU HAVE OVER 10 YEARS ITS EASY TO DO. GREAT BRAND & GREAT PRICE. 10 YEAR BATTERY IS ALSO GREAT IN THIS UNIT. May 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by There are not many wired smike detectors out there with Lithium batteries Exactly what I wanted at a good price. I had been looking all over for wired smike detectors with litho=ium battery back ups. These were exactle what I needed, easy to install and no replacing batteries every year. January 14, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Was looking for 110V and lithium backup Exactly what I was looking for. Replaced 22 year old smoke alarms in a few minutes. November 1, 2013
