The template was a different size than the actual faceplate, be sure to hold the faceplate up to the jamb before drilling any of your holes. The screws that come with started to strip so I recommend using better screws. Other than those two things, this seems to be a very useful additional to beef up your door/deadbolt strength. I had to mortise my door jamb to install, which took a while, but just keep chipping away and eventually you'll get there. I installed this on my front and back door. The metal "bucket" would not sit flush in the front door jamb because it hit the stud, so I used my spade bit to drill into the stud a little and then it fit just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from upgrade to door security If you are looking to add some protection against door kick in from intruders this is an inexpensive way to do just that. Mortising will be necessary due to the size of the box and the extended length of the flange and brass faceplate. The kit comes with long screws to anchor the box into the framing stud rather than the casing trim, this is what enhances the strength of the door. Be advised that this kit is designed more for a deadbolt than a regular door lock set because there is no provision for a strike shield on the door casing. If you use this on the door lock set the latch will wear in on the door casing. The brass faceplate is very nicely finished and looks good when installed. For the best appearance the assembly should be inset with the casing frame to provide a smooth surface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product. This is a great design and if you have basic carpentry skills you can install it yourself. I had to make the backset hole in the door jamb larger to accommodate the Box and I had to use a chisel to recess the plate into the door jamb. I put these on four of the doors in the house and it feels much more secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good looking, sturdy, and easy to install. This product appeared to be well-built and sturdy. In addition to the two traditional screws holding the plate and box, there are two additional screws that attach the box to the door frame through the inside of the box. I believe this adds overall sturdiness when using the dead bolt. The box is also more attractive than a standard plate over a drilled hole. I found it very easy to install and I am quite satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-built The picture says it all. It is as strong as it looks in the picture. You might want to get and oscillating saw with a narrow blade to cut our for the recessed box; using a chisel is tough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best parts I ever found Best security strike box that I have found on the market. It look good, and install with ease if you have the proper tools

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Steel box is very sturdy, but brass trim plate may bow outward. I used this to retrofit the strike on a portable school building with an aluminum door frame. The existing screw holes appeared to match, but may have been slightly off-center. Both the box and trim share the same 2 screws. In my case, the included trim plate would bow outward, so I decided not to use it. It's possible that enlarging the holes would solve the problem, but I think the plate is too thin to span the distance without deforming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed This Strike face is actually plated steel. It is polished brass finish. I would call it a "dead-bolt" housing and not really a strike plate. But it is what I needed to finish my job. I liked that there are screw holes inside the box that permits you to screw into the stud. It was my second purchase. The on line system did not do a good job of offering the dimensions to know if it would fit a dead-bolt. When it arrived I found it was fine.
