Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by lulu great concept but
I have purchased other brands of this same door lock and they worked much better than this one. The one pictured is rather poorly milled and so you have to be precise in how you flip it to make it lock.
If it were machined a little better it would have been perfect. Still, for the price, not a bad value as long as you are careful to make sure it is in the lock position when using it.

The latch works good, best part is that there are no holes in door, just two little holes in the door jamb, if I deside to take the latch off.

I was looking for something to install on the front door of my son's apartment that wouldn't cause a lot of damage, worked on a metal entry door, and prevented his overly intelligent 2 year old daughter from walking out the front door by herself as she's already figured out the locks. This was perfect. It attaches to the wooden frame of the door and latches the door shut. It's easy for adults to open but is placed high enough to be completely out of her reach. Best of all, it's an inexpensive solution that the apartment management allowed.

Easy to install and good price. We use it as an indicator that the house alarm is set and needs to be turned off. Keeps guests from setting off the alarm.

We purchased this flip lock (and another one locally) to use as extra security measures on our front and rear doors, which have glass inserts. The lock was intended to be installed low to the ground and lifted / unlocked using the toe of a shoe.
This lock didn't work smoothly on our (right swing) door because of the (non-symmetrical) design of the lock hinge. I think it would work for a left swing door...but not for us. The other lock we purchased (a different brand) did not have this issue.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Great latch for keeping toddlers from letting themselves out.
Simple design, but effective. I like that it will won't damage the trim and door when removed. Just some putty in two holes on the jamb.
