Customer Reviews

14 ft. Bypass Pruner is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 504.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from so far so good Have only used one day, but the product got a lot of use! I (5'3") got all the branches cut back that I never could reach before. I figure I saved at least $200 from having a professional come. Super easy to use on small branches, more coordination needed on larger branches where I actually had to saw. Product came pre-assembled right out of box. Instructions on how to use are not good but it's easy to figure out. Very happy with purchase! Word of advice - make sure you have plans on hauling away branches, they accumulate quickly! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect This thing's several feet longer than any other similar trimmers I was able to find at the same price point. Why, I'm not sure, because the quality seems to be fine. I'm actually a little scared of how easily the saw went through the pine branch I needed to remove. It was probably 4-5 inches across, and this thing went through it like butter. I also used the smaller clipper on a few small branches, and that was equally impressive. Required almost no effort to slice through. I used it on one branch that was the biggest you could possibly fit inside the jaw, and that still presented little resistance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Palm Trees We saw a professional gardner using something similar to trim palm tree fronds and started looking for something ourselves. This particular model gets good to great reviews. Lowe's sells something similar that got awful reviews. After reading all, once we brought the tool home, my husband tightened up all the nuts and screws. He used the blade to trim off palm fronds and the built in cutter device (using the rope cord) to trim low handing branches off our Bradford Pear. Overall, an excellent tool so far. Husband said he liked this so much better than having to stand on a ladder and use a saw blade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very handy tool I bought this tool a few weeks ago and hadn't taken it out of the package until yesterday. I have a number of trees that were neglected by the previous owners and this tool was a Godsend! The blade is so sharp and easy to use that I cut about 50 branches in an afternoon. I had no problems with the telescoping except at full extension it is a bit difficult to control. Use caution when cutting very high limbs at full extension as you will carefully need to think through your "exit strategy" when they come down. I highly recommend this product and want to know if I can buy replacement saw blades to keep it 100% awesome!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware the telescoping joint Every product has some bad reviews, but with so many good reviews to offset it, I figured this would be a good purchase. I was wrong. If you look at the one star reviews, almost every one has the same issue; the telescoping joint does not hold the two pieces together, and if you try to tighten the screws sufficiently to hold, the plastic joint breaks. This is exactly my experience. I tightened the joint as much as I dared, but it still would not hold. I am now trying some gorilla glue and then tightening it to get the base to hold. But there is no way to glue the other end and still have an adjustable pole. Very frustrating. I have no idea how all the five star reviews are getting their tools to hold together. My brother has an older Fiskars pole saw that has a much better joint that you tighten by hand. I would gladly pay the extra money for a tool that worked.

I use enough manual tools and expected a long handle pruner to be more user friendly. It was quite hard to cut my palm branches. The small pruning blade attached to the rope (for pulling) cuts pretty well but is quite small. I ended up cutting most of the branches with the saw, just plain old brute force. I am a 5'1" woman with a small frame so it was a bit of an effort for me. Having said that, with online search, I did not find anything else in the market that looked like it would do the job any better. So I decided to keep this one. I cut 5 branches. My suggestion to the manufacturer would be. Please 1. Make the blade fitted with the rope 2-2.5 times larger. This would be really helpful. 2. If possible, make the saw sharper/ more effective. 3. If possible, make it easier to guide/ latch-on the small blade to the right cutting position. Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good extended pruner This is a very good alternative to a chain saw for smaller branches. You do need to have some shoulder strength if you have a lot of pruning to do. Although not heavy once to reach those high to reach branches the saw and the pruning blade will really do the job. I am not of age to be climbing but can hold the pole up for awhile so a very good option for me. The saw portion and the pruner are really sharp and will cut easily, if you let the tool the job. The pruner requires a rope pull action and some strength but once again it beats having to climb a tree. I believe it is safer to operate this tool than it is to climb trees or get on ladders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT Pruner!! I am very pleased with the Fiskars pruner. They make excellent products and this pruner is no exception. The 15" blade cut effortlessly and quickly through 4" limbs. It has a very sharp blade and cuts on the pull stroke. The smaller limb cutter works effortlessly also. It has a double pulley set-up and takes hardly any effort to cut right through 1 1/2" limbs and under. The extendable 14' length is also great; I could reach surprisingly high up in the tree with this pruning pole. I am definitely very pleased with the quality of this tool and the price is very reasonable too. I'm sure it will last for years to come. You'll be more than satisfied if you decide to go with this pruner.
