Customer Questions & Answers

Is the blade supposed to be at an angle?

The blade is at an angle and is this normal?
Asked by: mawil1013
Mine isn't. Have used it to pry rocks, etc and is straight. I expected it to bend easily at that price, but it is holding up well. There is a large weld under the blade. Was it bought that way?

14 in. Big Grip Garden Knife is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from The handle broke off It seems like a heavy duty tool but it broke the first time I went to use it. The steel is only in the blade, it doesn't extend up into the handle. I only recommends using this for light duty in soft ground.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from As good as its weakest part This broke on the first day using it. The weld at the handle is garbage, snapped in 2 in seconds.

Slip it just barely under the ground, sever the roots, and lift them from the top. It's a little labor intensive, but it works great. It is very sturdy and rugged construction, and the grip is comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced one that "walked" away from my garden bucket I had used one given to me for three years; suddenly it disappeared from the bucket I carry around when looking for weeds on my half acre. Had to have a replacement, use it for separating perrenials, grubbing weeds, even root prunning.

Bought this on the recommendation of other metal detecting enthusiasts online. The diggers marketed for the metal detecting crowd are way over priced, in the 35-40 dollar range. It works well. Easily cuts plugs neatly, allowing them to be replaced without much disturbance of the land. I found a belt sheath that works with it at HD for ten bucks and has a couple of extra pockets. Can't beat it for the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My Favorite Garden Tool Ever But... Love the features of this tool. You can leave the rest of the tools in the shed all you need is this one for digging small holes, planting, cutting roots, weeding. It doesn't pass the Anita test though. I am very hard on everything. So I broke it. So don't try digging up rocks with it. I live in Schoharie County NY and we grow rocks. So to do any gardening, we have to remove them. This tool didn't stand up to that. Since the price is great I would love to get 3 more but this is a seasonal item and out of stock. Sad face.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd best tool...for just about everything in the garden If there is one tool you carry out to your garden every time, this should be it. There may be 10 better tools for 10 different jobs, but if you have this with you, you will use it - - and be happy you did. For example: Transplanting seedlings Ripping out weeds eight inches below the soil surface Sawing off invasive roots underground Cutting open bags of peat moss Plowing a furrow to plant seed Cutting a perfect square out of sod Edging overgrown grass from a sidewalk (OK, for a short stretch) Etc, etc. etc. Construction is very nice. The aluminum blade is quite sharp, so be careful!! (Fiskars, you might consider selling a sheath.) The padding isn't very soft, but the handle should be able to take any abuse you can dish out. Easy to clean with a garden hose. All in all, a great product, especially for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice for any gardener! This big knife is a must for any avid or do-it-yourself gardener! The big rubberized handle is easy to handle and grip. It is easy to maneuver even with garden gloves on. It is able to dig, as well as cut through roots without having to change tools. There is a gauge embossed on the spade section for depth for planting bulbs. I highly recommend this product!!
