Answer:
Get the next size down. It will be much easier to get around and cut the limb. This size would be overkill. Handle length is the same.

The Fiskars 28 inch is a bit large for pruning roses, but the Fiskars 6.75 Powerlever Pruner is a great tool for pruning your roses and other small plants.

Answer:
Pruning shears may be easier on the live growth. The loppers are sort of big for the job but would be great for the thicker stems. I have some old growth on my roses and the loppers did make easy work of it. They are sharp enough to make a clean cut.

Answer:
If you are planning to some some really major trimming on your roses, the longer handles will keep you away from the thorns. However, for general trimming, I'd prefer a pair of smaller hand shears.

Answer:
Thank you for contacting Fiskars. Yes, these loppers will work well for roses. We generally recommend hand pruners for rose bush pruning, but if you have larger bushes these will work as well.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 87 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality loppers These loppers are a better quality than the cheaper model made by the same manufacturer. The cheaper model *around $21-$22) broke when I tried to cut a tree branch. June 21, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Don't cut limbs over 1.5 inches I was cutting some decent size saplings but nothing that these loppers couldn't have handled and the cutter piece bent. They still work ok but I won't be cutting anything over1.5 inches anymore. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good The loppers are very sharp and well worth it. They cut limbs very easily. Much better than the ones I previously bought from harbor freight. June 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product Couldn't believe the diameter I was able to cut through. Much better than my old pair. June 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Tool! But... I bought this to replace a cheap, poorly constructed, junk pair from another store that broke the first few times I used it. The way the jaws are designed on the Fiskars lopper creates more leverage, making it easier to cut thicker limbs. However, because of the way the jaw is designed, the user has to fully open them in order to cut even small saplings, making it awkward & cumbersome to use, especially in tight places. Overall, I would recommend this pair because of the construction - despite the difficulty to use them, the it is built well, and it truly does not take as much effort as a single-fulcrum type lopper. I try to envision a better design without sacrificing lowered effort required to use them, but I don't think it's possible. If you want a good quality lopper that will be reliable when you need it most, give this one a try. If you're looking for one with which you can use it in tight places, perhaps you should try a different model. May 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quick work of small branches I used this to cut small branches from a fallen tree with ease. They made quick work of the roots of sticker bushes over 1in in diameter. the bolt on the side did loosen but never fell off May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth it These things are well worth the price. Sturdy, not too heavy. Cuts it's rated capacity with ease. May 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Handle broke within first 5 minutes The handle broke within the first 5 minutes. I was very disappointed with this product. May 17, 2016
