Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Lopping Tool I ended up purchasing the lopper in the store because I wanted to see it first. I wanted to cut a hedge from about 7 feet to about 3 so I could maintain it without climbing. There are some woody stems between 1-1/2 and 2 inches in diameter and I was concerned about whether I should get a saw for the large ones. I went out this morning to just try it on a few places and ended up finishing the whole hedge it went so well. It did take some work on the thicker ones but nothing like I was afraid it would be. The lopper is very sharp and rigid enough for heavy cuts. An excellent tool. I look forward to some more cutting this weekend in other places around the house. The grip is very comfortable. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well Purchased tehse for major overgrown yard clean up. They work with minimal effort on thick branches. I did notice that the tool tends to twist a little causing the blade to close on the wrong side and chipping it. This is more of an operator error since I did not notice this until it was too late. Ordering replacement blades costs almost as much as a new tool with shipping but if you order three blades you have extras for the same price as a new tool. Again this tool works very well as designed. It is perfect for the branches that are too big for pruners and too small for a chainsaw. August 22, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Powerlever Works so you don't have to! I haven't put this pair of loppers to a lot of testing, so I do not know the quality yet. They DO however cut right through branches, green or dead, with ease. I will never go back to standard loppers without the leverage assistance. The bad: The only issue that may be a problem, to open the jaws wide, you really have to spread the handles open so if space is an issue you may want to stick with standard or a saw. Other than that, no problems. July 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product Powerful enough to get me through any shrubbery at my new home. Not so large that it is impossible to use in a tight space either. April 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hand tool Simple and easy to use. Requires very little effort to use even when cutting thicker branches July 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works very well Bought these because the very inexpensive Black and Decker short handle loppers just wouldn't cut larger branches and roots. These do the job just fine, and with minimal effort. You do have to move your arms farther than with a short handled pair, but that is how you gain a mechanical advantage. Just be sure that when you cut roots you re-true the cutting blade (I just run a knife sharpener along the edge once or twice.) and keep them lightly oiled. Just like a chainsaw, they will dull quickly when cutting dirt/sand but if you keep them true, they will last for a long time and function properly. Or you can do like Roger (the Landscape Expert on This Old House) and buy a pair just for cutting roots in the ground, but since I don't use them a lot, I just keep them sharp. Hope this helps and good luck in your landscaping efforts December 10, 2014
