Answer:
I wouldn't use them to cut wire, just for the fact of dulling the blades. You could use a pair of side cutters or linemen's pliers. It really depends on the thickness of the wire as to what type of tool to use.

It will only cut through very thin wire, like chicken wire. I wouldn't want to wear out the sharpness of these pruners by using them to cut wires.

I've not tried cutting wire with this tool.
I would not suggest one use the Pruner as a wire cutting tool
as the cutting edge may be nicked, necessitating sharpening.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fiskars 5.5 in Bypass Pruner Overall good pruning shears for the price. Easy to use with smaller hands and stays sharp. June 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great Easy to use, works well on rose bushes and small tree branches June 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great pruners if you like having your fingers pinched Maybe I have extra long fingers, but with every cut made, my fingertips were pinched in the handles. I returned them to Home Depot and got a refund. I ended up buying the Corona Heavy Duty Bypass Pruner 1-in BP-3180, for about $20 online from The Pruner Warehouse. Much better quality and no pinched fingertips. June 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for Yard Clean up Needed to clean out some overgrown vines and this little tool has worked fabulously. It's small enough to get through the vine tangle and cut the main stem and sharp enough that I only have to saw at it for the thicker (1"+) younger vines. June 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Handy Trimmers easy to use and closes firmly when closed as to not be dangerous June 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by There is a problem, any idea how to fix? I bought this based on great reviews of the product. It did its job when cutting but it closes every time and won't pop open per each cut. Have to open it with both hands every time. Very annoying. Hope I can fix it or have to get another pair that works better. June 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good solid construction Padded handles provide excellent grip for large hands. Sufficient leverage to cut 3/8" branches cleanly. Excellent value. May 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pruner Broke on the first branch I cut. Wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. May 31, 2016
