Answer:
There is a pull that supposedly lets you trim higher but did not find that lot of help. There is another model that is just like this but with telescoping that lets you go higher. I wanted the light weight shorter one and did not need the saw blade that another model includes.

Not really. Any extension would interfere with the ball pull at the base. Fiskars should include an instruction sheet with these. Mine did not come with one.
You can buy the extensible model - extends to 12 feet - haven't tried it yet.

Basically, I would say any branch it can get around. But just check the directions for the product online or in the directions that came with the product. If you no longer have this, contact Fiskars. They will tell you or they might have a frequently asked questions section for the product.

For me it only works well on one inch or thinner branches. You can try to cut several times on slightly larger ones and sometimes it will eventually cut them, but works best on the smaller ones. On the small branches it only takes one slice.

About 3/4" Dia, but what ever can fit in the mouth of the cutters 1", 1 1/4" using multiple bites.
Type of wood matters too, hard wood like Keawe (Acacia) will go no further that 3/4".

Thank you for contacting Fiskars. That tree pruner has a 1.25" cutting capacity. The larger telescoping model includes a saw blade that can be used on larger limbs. We have included a link to that tool so you can review.

Warranty info is on the packaging, including the phone number to get warranty. I suggest you call that number and discuss your issue with the company. Based on the info on packaging, looks like a real good lifetime warranty for defective materials or workmanship. Good luck!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product I bought this about a month ago and have found it to be indispensable and very easy to use. Standing on the ground to trim tree limbs is a blessing. And it cuts like butter. It says max cutting is 1.25 inches. You can rotate the head to reposition for different cutting angles as well. My elderly 80 yr old neighbor had some palm fronds laying on her roof. I told her about this, went home and grabbed it to show her how easy it was to use. She loved it so much she went to HD the next day and bought one for herself. even though I agreed to loan her mine anytime she needed it. She said her kids were threatening to take away her ladders due to her age, so this helps her out a lot as she does a lot of her own gardening. June 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A must have for pruning trees and shrubs, but… The extended cutting head makes this the tool in between loppers and a tree trimmer. It's especially good for trimming and cleaning out unwanted branches deep in shrubs. BUT wear heavy gloves because the tool can bite. There are two alternative straps that close the jaws. The ball at the end of the strap that goes to the end of the shaft can remain slack, especially if the jaws jam and may then pinch your hand. Also, I broke a blade on a 3/4" dead acacia branch, so let's see how good Home Depot and Friskars are about the "lifetime guarantee." I'll buy another one because I don't find a better one, but I'll save the receipt. September 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful tool! This tool is amazing! So easy to use and it cuts thru tree branches like butter. A terrific addition to my toolshed! July 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works even better than I thought At 75 I wanted a trimmer that was light weight (days of using those heavy telescoping models with saw blade behind me now). And I liked the slide mechanism vs rope pull. Found it worked great on trimming up to 3/4-1 inch limbs and easy to trim my large holly bushes and fruit trees. But near end of first use I forgot to get my thumb out the way when released the pull and that smarted! So remember to keep fingers out of the way of the slide when releasing it! Like the weight and simplicity of using this. If you do not need telescoping model (though there is one with slide as well as one with blade and rope pull) this is a great product. Highly recommend to those who do not need saw or telescoping models. July 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised!!! This is a good tool that works. Bought it today and spent over an hour cutting bamboo off at the ground. Best tool for lopping small branches above your head as well as suckers on tree trunks. The slide action us great for tight spaces and the ball pull in the end is great to maximize your reach. I do recommend wearing a work glove on your hand at the end as the ball pushes into your hand to get leverage when cutting August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This 54 IN. EZ REACH STIK TREE PRUNER is an excellent product. This product is easy to use on the tree in my landscaping which needs constant pruning because it was planted too close to my home. August 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient to do the job myself The pruner is lightweight and easy to use. It is long enough to reach branches above the roof. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A must for any yard I bought one of these years ago and it lasted through years of use. It will cut through just about anything that the jaws will fit around provided it is still wet, but is also effective on dry hard branches under an inch thick. There is a sliding handle with a strap as well as a ball handle on the end which makes it possible to cut from various positions. I've used it to quickly clear branches away from rooflines and car canopies. As a bonus, it also works to pick the branches off the ground and into the bin when you're finished. June 28, 2016
