Customer Questions & Answers

what width of branches can I cut with this pruner

Asked by: Anonymous
The opening is about 1.25", so that is the maximum size that it will cut. It cuts green branches much easier than old dead branches that are dried out.

Can I add an extension to it for cutting even higher tree branches??

Asked by: Paul
There is a pull that supposedly lets you trim higher but did not find that lot of help. There is another model that is just like this but with telescoping that lets you go higher. I wanted the light weight shorter one and did not need the saw blade that another model includes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works even better than I thought At 75 I wanted a trimmer that was light weight (days of using those heavy telescoping models with saw blade behind me now). And I liked the slide mechanism vs rope pull. Found it worked great on trimming up to 3/4-1 inch limbs and easy to trim my large holly bushes and fruit trees. But near end of first use I forgot to get my thumb out the way when released the pull and that smarted! So remember to keep fingers out of the way of the slide when releasing it! Like the weight and simplicity of using this. If you do not need telescoping model (though there is one with slide as well as one with blade and rope pull) this is a great product. Highly recommend to those who do not need saw or telescoping models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I bought this about a month ago and have found it to be indispensable and very easy to use. Standing on the ground to trim tree limbs is a blessing. And it cuts like butter. It says max cutting is 1.25 inches. You can rotate the head to reposition for different cutting angles as well. My elderly 80 yr old neighbor had some palm fronds laying on her roof. I told her about this, went home and grabbed it to show her how easy it was to use. She loved it so much she went to HD the next day and bought one for herself. even though I agreed to loan her mine anytime she needed it. She said her kids were threatening to take away her ladders due to her age, so this helps her out a lot as she does a lot of her own gardening.

I was able to prune my apple and apricot trees without getting off the ground. It's sleek head design allows it to reach through lower branches and lop off the higher ones. It is also useful for pulling lopped off branches out of the tree. Using the 'pulling ball' on the end of the pole, I was able to lop off branches up to 11.5 feet above the ground. It's mechanical leveraging design allows you to cut off 1" branches easier than with regular pruning loppers.

This cutter is ideal for cutting branches that would otherwise move away from the traditional "saw on a pole" unit. The design is excellent, allowing you to transfer a lot of cutting force to the top, by pulling the orange handled toward you, or by pulling the small ball at the end. The design is clever, and I can reach 90% of the cuts without a ladder. For higher elevations, do it yourselfers could possibly add a pole and rope.
