Can the blades be sharpened?

I have trimmers just like this but they are old and so dull they won't cut much of anything anymore. Its a shame they can't be sharpened (one of the blades has a sort of serrated edge to it that can't be sharpened) and once dull, they are useless. Is it possible to sharpen the blades when they become dull instead of just throwing them away?? Thank you.
Asked by: Clipper
Yes, these shears can be sharpened.

What is the proper way to keep the shears clean?

Asked by: Mairzy
Thank you for contacting Fiskars. To keep your shears clean, please wipe the blades with a clean dry cloth after each use, and put a light coating of oil on them to prevent rust.

Customer Reviews

7 in. Sculpting Hedge Shears is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, sharp and easy to use. Great product. It is lighter than the hedge shears that can handle 1 and 1/2" caliper, but it's good enough for female users like myself as it's not too heavy on my arms and wrist so I could use it longer. It's sharp and strong enough to trim through 1/2" without too much efforts. Love the Fiskar brand. I always trust its quality and reliability. I've used it for 2 hours straight and did not feel tired or strained shoulder muscles. No residual pain or soreness the next day too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, Sharp, does the job very well. No need to do multiple snips - this cuts branches on one try. I am impressed. Saves a lot of energy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I researched a lot of these because I don't have a lot of strength. But these bypass hedge shears are just perfect. They're easy to use. I've only used them a couple of times but I did a lot of cutting those 2 times. I'm very pleased with the weight and the length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp! Wow, cutting my jasmine hedge was a breeze - even easier than with my electric shears. These are sharp and make a clean cut without a lot of pressure needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product Item was shipped in a timely manner. I never ordered somethig like this online, so I thought the item was smaller than anticipated. However, once I used the clippers and saw how sharp and effective they were, I was glad they didn't take up so much space in the garage. A good value and functional for the average trim job. A must have for the tool shed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just right for me The best thing about these shears for me is that they are not heavy and yet they are sharp and strong. Not only do I trim bushes but I also edge wih them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not really sure what these would actually work on I purchased these to trim some unruly shrubs along the driveway, but ended up returning them. They wouldn't cut through thinner branches (they bent them instead) and they weren't tough enough for the larger ones... If I closed them just the right amount of force they'd cut through a small handful of what I needed to do. I eventually gave up and went totally overboard by pulling out the chain saw
