I use the pole saw to cut Palm tree branches up high on the tree. Use to use a ladder but it's not needed now. Makes trimming the Palm tree quick and easy, No hand, arm or head punctures from the Palm tree branch thorns.

I needed a manual pole pruner for 2 apple trees on my property. I found this in stock at my local Home Depot. I looked it up online (on my phone) to check reviews. Reviews were excellent AND it was on sale on Home Depot's site for $10 less than in-store price. I purchased it online with "free store pickup." I brought the pruner to Customer Service, showed the online transaction # and happily left with the new, discounted pruner. It works as described, adjusts easily and is plenty long enough for my trees. Saw blade will be handy for thicker branches. Synthetic pole material won't rust, like my previous pruner did. Highly recommended.

this pole saw comes mostly assembled-you just need to attach the actual saw. The pole extends easily & the blades on the "nipper" are very sharp.. The problem is that the pole doesn't lock in place. It clearly says on the pole "click to lock". So I clicked but it doesn't lock-the pole slides out if with the slightest downward pressure. I need the saw to cut palm tree seed pods but the mouth of the nipper isn't big enough to go around the neck of the stem. I'll probably be returning this for a more appropriate tool.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Handyman GOOD BUT MISSED EXCELLENT BY A HAIR!!
The only reason I rated this trimmer as good instead of excellent is because of the head design. The head needs to incorporate the rope into the pole somehow to keep it out of the way and easier to use in tight places. The rocker cutting jaw is an old design that works well enough but is hard to use in tight confines. The pole is strong and steady and the saw is right on the edge of being too thin to keep it from bending in use. I bent mine trying to cut an medium limb [ 2 in.] but after straightening it worked well on rest of job.
Overall I would say this is still a good tool for the money and a small job, but a little light for heavy work or commercial work.

This is a great pruner. I have used it about 12 times and it is working perfectly. The only set up out of the box is to loosen the wing nut and rotate the blade up and tighten. The Bypass sheer works great with minimal amount of force to cut through the branches. The ones that do not fit in bypass sheer are easily cut using the saw blade. The only recommendation that I have is when using the saw only use the weight of the saw to push down on what you are cutting is all you will need.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ZDad Finally broke it
I have 2 of these one in NJ and bought one in Puerto Rico to clear vines/branches from Power lines(fiberglass pole a must)near house. Electric Authority slow to do their job(surprise). Anyway, performed extremely well. Pruning shear cut easily through most branches and I abused the heck out of it for at least 3 years. Finally snapped pruner "hook" my fault, attacked a thicker branch than recommended and jammed too much material into pruner. Blade is still great but cast hook is the weak point. Rope is easily replaced when fraying becomes a problem. Standard Saw blade was pretty useless there and immediately replaced with a more aggressive/thicker carbide toothed blade. Replacement head is available from Fiskars directly but with the shipping charge(US only) I think its worth the extra 8 bucks to just buy a new one.
The one I have in NJ is still going strong pruning apple trees and other assorted varieties(oak, maple etc...) and shows no sign of breaking down.
Safety note. I maintained a good 3 feet of clearance when I was trimming and advise NOT to trim around power lines. I consider my use extreme due to imminent failure of power lines from excessive weight of vegetation. It's a jungle out there.

Pruner was missing wing nut that held blade. Bad timing to discover when we were in the roof.
