As soon as I saw these I grabbed them. I am going to get another set or 2 if I go back tomorrow. I have all kinds of planters and these will give me even more space to grow. Everywhere else I priced them out was double the price. And as for the metal zip ties, I'm not even going to use them. I have heavy duty nylon zip ties that are rated for 120 LBS and UVA/UVB. Got them on eBay for a great price.
Problem of moving them and wasting steel ties..........SOLVED
FYI, I have other pocket/hanging planters zip tied to my porch, they made it through the winter just fine.
Think about this: Those steel zip ties will rust at some point.

This is a great idea. When they arrived I immediately put the set together and hung them on the deck outside my bedroom. My GF planted some annuals, don't ask me what kind, and they look great. So great in fact that I went to my local HD and bought two more sets to hang. The material is good quality and the craftsmanship is fine. I expect them to last for years. The only issue that I have is that once you hang them with the included straps you can't move them without cutting the straps. I hope that Fiskar finds another way to mount them that is movable.

I just received this today, and have read every word of the excellent instructions, and examined the parts. This is very well constructed and study, and Fiskars leaves no question unanswered to install it, and the variety of ways to use this planter. It does induce that the pots should likely be stored during the harsh winter, but that is only logical.
It is also clear that Fiskars surely has put a lot of time into the self-watering development.
To have 3 good-sized plants hanging (with the choice of horizontal, vertical or separately) this simply cannot be beat for $20!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dcmikez nice system, easy to assemble and install
This is a nice planting system to hang from a deck, or fence. It's essentially three planters that can hang separately, or from each other.
There's a built in water reservoir, which is nice, but I keep thinking they lead to overwatering, but that's just my own paranoia.
These will look great with something that will flow over the side (like alyssium) to highlight the plants, not the planters. They're made from injected mold plastic, so they're not really pretty, which is why you'll want to use flowers or plants that will hide or cover most of them and steal the show.
The only drawback on these is that the lip to hang them isn't wide enough to go over a standard wooden fence, and you have to use the included metal straps to hang the first one. These have to be snipped if you want to move the planter or take them in for the winter.
Fiskars does recommend you take them in for the winter.

Simple concept and product that has the potential to amaze and delight anyone wanting a little green space... not much effort with a wonderful finished product.
Fiskars has done it again with the versatility & very functional optional as a single, double or triple hanging basket with a flat back side as to gracefully place against the background of your choosing.
Great for a quick makeover on any sized deck, patio or fencing area.
Fill it with whatever suits your fancy!

This set comes with three sturdy plastic containers with appropriate fittings to allow for hanging individually or all three vertically in one line. Make sure you pay attention to the images while assembling or you will try to force the water insert into the snaps upside down :-) The same can be said for the rods that allow the three containers to insert vertically. Once I figured that out I saw easily how the steel ties are used to hang each container or the one vertical onto whatever type of banister or surface you want to use for these nice planters. Make sure that when you use the tie that the edge with the bump is on top. I didn't figure this out until it was too late and I don't think I can undo the tie. I seem to only be able to tighten them - not the other way around. Therefore my biggest concern is what I will be able to use to rehang them after they are taken in for the winter. the only way to undue them is to snap the fasteners - think plastic ties.
Anyway - they do look good - they swing however. I hung them over a banister where the montauk daisy plant is too large and droopy leaving a big hole in the middle. I am going to leave them out this winter to see if the stainless steel ties survive. if they don't rust then that will settle the problem with what to use when you have to rehang them. I didn't see anywhere on the Fiskars' website where you can just buy the ties.

This product is another great innovation from Fiskars. Instead of having pots that take up a large footprint, I am now able to grow plants in a way that doesn't take up a lot of space on my deck. The pots are strong and durable and the steel zip-ties have a strong hold on the pots. If you don't have one of these I strongly encourage you to get one.
