Answer:
Yes. You have to start on one of the sides to open it. Pull out on the lip of the lid and push in on the top edge of the barrel. You may have to rotate the lid front to back to get it to pop loose. Once it pops loose you can slide it towards the other side to free the other tabs.

Answer:
Yes. It just pops off. If the barrel is full, you'll need to work on it a bit, but really no problem.

Answer:
No, the top does not remove; however, the barrel is filled by a diverter in the gutter downspout. There is no need to remove the top. When the rain barrel is completely filled the water from the gutter runs down the downspout as normal.

Answer:
We bought a brass spigot before we installed our rain barrel as reviews had indicated the one that comes with the barrel is plastic and doesn't last long. It should last a long time.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fiskars Rain-Barrel I've wanted one for years and now it's full and ready to use. It's not that easy but will be well worth the effort. I bought two small bags of decorative gravel (Home Depot) and a couple of concrete pavers (Home Depot) to level it on but am very proud of my work. I'm saving water and putting untreated rain water on my veggies and fruit trees. It's another small way I can become more independent. This is a no-brainer - every home should have at least one rain-barrel. I'm going to look into offering installation services now that I've done it. April 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy with limits When placed on a home stand about 2' high it becomes very convenient for watering and water cans. It has 4 internal "ribs" for strength at the bottom which makes it very sturdy. Over the winter, the water freezes which will split the bottom right where a rib attaches to the bottom (we missed draining ours in time). This makes it unusable and there is no way to repair it. The spigot is easily fixed by buying a "clamp" or "sandwich" style spigot. This has a threaded portion that extends into the barrel along with rubber seals and a nut attached from the inside. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK barrel with good installation kit Installation was easy using the kit that came with the barrel. As the barrel fills up the plastic will flex or distort a little, leading to water dripping from the hole where the tap is screwed. Not a big issue for me. The position of the tap will not allow the barrel to be emptied completely, but the remaining water means that the barrel is not likely to blow away. Some water will continue to flow through the down spout even when the barrel is filling up, contrary to some other designs, so you need to make sure that it is diverted away from the house. Overall an OK product for its price. July 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient in Texas It was somewhat easy to install. There are two things I'd like to point out; the top lid is very hard to remove for some reason, and the orange spigot broke off very easy; now I have to figure out how to order a replacement. Overall the product is good and met the intent. October 23, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sprung a leak I loved it until it got a hairline leak above the spigot. You've got to do better than a 3 year warranty of these rainbarrels. Too expensive to replace every 3 years. September 9, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not Happy About Price A few days after I purchased this, before I picked it up from the store, I received an e-mail that said it was on sale at $40 less than I paid. I should have gotten a credit. The faucet at the bottom had to be replaced (at my cost) with a brass fitting as the plastic one included with the barrel was not sturdy enough to stand up to wear and tear. June 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but faucet drips Wasn't difficult to install. Bought the Diverterpro as we have leaves and pine needles that would end up in the water barrel and the filter keeps them out. Only problem is the spigot still drips no matter how loose or tight it's turned even with the rubber washer installed. I keep a bucket under the faucet so no water is wasted. I use the rainwater for my indoor plants. April 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wasted money on rain barrels We bought two of these rain barrels. The faucet leaked on both and we were very disappointed that after a couple of years of use - despite preparing it for winter as instructed - the bottoms cracked on both. So now our $200 worth of rain barrels don't hold water. June 8, 2014
