Customer Questions & Answers

how do I get the saw blade to open? I tried pulling both ends and pushing the orange button, but it won't move!

Asked by: scotie
Try holding the saw in your right hand and push the button with your thumb. While holding the button down, pull on the blade at the opposite end from the button. You can feel the locking mechanism detach. Swung out easily for me.

Why does this cut on the pull stroke?

American saws cut on the push stroke, pushing the saw away from your body. This saw cuts on the pull stroke, pulling it towards your body. After an hour cutting with a cross cut saw, then start using this, is like WHAAAAT? I would so much like this to be reversible.
Asked by: zekezebra
The saw teeth on saws such as this are designed to cut in both directions; so wood particles are removed twice as fast to reduce both fatigue and work time.

difference between 7 and 10 inch model just longer blade? Is one better than the other?
Asked by: John
Hi John, I did not find a 7 inch version of the Fiskars Pruning Saw, but I found a Corona 7 inch Pruning Saw. They are very similar in design and are both a great value. The longer blade of the Fiskars might give that saw a greater value, along with its availability in most Home Depot stores. Corona Saws are of the highest quality, and if a more compact blade is desirable, this saw may be a great choice. Trimming trees is not my favorite thing to do, but I was able to trim up my tree branches in no time. In fact I wound up trimming all my other trees as well. It's very comfortable to grip and feels sturdy in the hand which makes it very easy to control. I like the fact that it folds and will hang up when not in use. I like Fiskars products. I find them well designed and durable.

Blade Pruning Saw is very sharp, I truly expected it would cut branches smooth and fast but it doesn't. The saw teeth get stuck in the wood, making pushing and drawing the blade a real chore. I have a 50 year old small bucksaw, which I've never re-sharpened and it never binds up. Nice try but no cigar.

My prior brand was wicked enough to bring down a 30 foot tall crabapple tree. The trunk was a foot in diameter. I miss that pruning saw, we had many adventures over 15 years.

Definitely not how you want to have to apply force when working on a ladder. It is very sharp and cuts well, so it works great when working at ground level. I did have the lock fail on me once though as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pruning saw I used this to cut out tree roots and branches and it worked great and is still very sharp after days of use, I recommend getting one of these for cutting anything up to about 3" in diameter.
