Customer Questions & Answers

We have a lot of oak trees (thus acorns...) in our yard. Would this mower work or would we have a problem with acorns getting caught in the blades?

Asked by: TCTrio
We have a tree that drops these spinny balls in the fall, about the size of a gulf ball. It only takes a few minutes to rake them up, otherwise, they do get stuck. But I love my new lawn mower!

I can't push my mower forward, the blade appears to get stuck and won't go forward. It will move backwards.

Asked by: Ben4U2
The locking nut on the smaller chain cog may have worked itself loose, or may have fallen off completely.

Has anyone used this mower with a fenced in yard?

I am just wondering because of the protruding front wheels if you would be able to mow inside fenced corners efficiently, seeing that the front wheel would hit the fence and stop the blades from going into the corner areas of my backyard.
Asked by: HonestScott
I do use a sickle for trimming in corners and right around posts.

Customer Reviews

StaySharp Max 18 in. Push Walk Behind, Non-Powered, Non-Electrical Reel Lawn Mower (6201) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 372.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower This Mower is easier to push than a gas Mower! If you hit a tall thick spot Mower might stop just back up a little and give her a good push no problem! Takes less time than a push mower to mow whole yard! One minor problem I was gonna make a small blade adjustment and the factory bolts are really tight. It started to round off on of the bolts! Went ahead and moved with no problems at all. I'll spray some lube on bolt and try that. My opinion is don't let your yard get above 5"-6" the shorter it is when you mow the easier it is to push. Pick up sticks and rocks in yard before you mow. I wish I would have got one of these mowers earlier

It's very easy and smooth to push, cuts the grass easily and cleanly, and is very easy to adjust to different cutting heights. I had tried a different reel mower a while back but that didn't work too well. We then bought a gas mower that does a good job mowing the grass. However, I never enjoyed using it because it is very loud and heavy. We also have a large backyard that is up a flight of steps, and hauling the gas mower up and down was a pain. I eventually decided to give the Fiskar a try for our smallish front lawn, and I'm very happy with it. The gas mower is now relegated to the backyard, and I've been using the Fiskar on our front lawn for several weeks. Now I actually look forward to mowing the lawn, unlike before when I would put it off as long as I could!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like how easy it was to put it together... I like how easy it was to put it together but make sure you pay attention to the blades. They are really sharp and will cut you if your not careful. The only thing I wish it had in the box was a clipping bag. This is the easiest push mower I have ever used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you are looking for a mower for a large... If you are looking for a mower for a large lawn, or a high landscaped lawn this is probably not the mower for you. If you are looking for an incredible easy quiet simple mower to cut down a small to medium lawn this thing is amazing. Highly recommend!

Now my wife and I can mow while letting the kids play outside... we can still keep an eye on them and don't have to worry about a rock getting shot from under the mower and knocking one of them out. Requires no gas (obviously). The only downsides I see (which are obvious): 1) difficult to get into tight spaces; requires more work with a trimmer. 2) does not get those pesky dandelions. My wife tells me they're the bee's first food and they're hurting... so that justified not doing anything with this con. Would recommend; just know that it's going to be more work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional for temporary fix My main gas fueled push lawn mower had to have added maintenance so tried this type to keep grass cut. It works great for most of my yard. I have one section that has really thick grass and you do struggle to clip it. Like the Manuel states that too much grass can stall it but just mow smaller strip so grass get thrown out. Front and rear setting chute for clippings is great. I did have a challenge finding the right dry spray lubricant for the moving parts it recommends. Not being able to cut the grass when slightly damp is a draw back but my mulching mower I usually do not use it when grass is wet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An absolutely amazing reel mower! I've been using an older reel mower for the past few years and it finally got too hard to use you'd have to mow the same spot 3 or 4 times so it finally got too difficult to use ,but I hated the idea of going back to a noisy, smelly gas mower ,after reading the mostly positive reviews of Fiskars we decided to try it and WOW it works great and cuts in 1 pass! ,some reviews said it's hard to push but it's no harder than a gas mower and cuts just as well and we live in Texas and I'm over 50 so have Texas heat and humidity plus St. Augustine grass to deal with and we're completely satisfied and would recommend Fiskars to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blade keeps jamming I bought this last March after reading good reviews in a number of places. It is good when it works, and the flywheel that makes it easier to push is great, but after using it maybe 5 or 6 times one of the blades jammed. The strange thing is that only one jammed, while the rest rotated freely, meaning one blade was not aligned with the rest of them. The alignment process is very finicky and I couldn't get a consistent spacing between the moving and stationary blades, but I got it working. It worked fine for about another half dozen times, then it jammed again, again only one blade. I contacted Fiskars warranty and the were responsive, but they decided to send me a replacement without asking how I wanted to proceed. I am hoping for a refund.
