Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Use it for laundry washer/slop sink - lasted ~9 years This pump enabled us to add a slop sink in the baement, which also drains our clothes washer - it ran well, with no float switch problems, for about 9 years or so until today. Opening it up again, it appears that we should put a finer strainer in the sink in order to minimize potential impact on the pump motor. Nonetheless, it worked daily without an issue except for being rather loud (i.e., you could easily hear it on the floor above, though it typically ran for only seconds at a time), and Home Depot apparently sells the same pump - so, I can hopefully just replace the Flotec pump and keep the existing system installation in place. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A somewhat unique product. Not much competition out there. Good product but could be improved by a method to secure the placement of the pump in the enclosure. If the placement is not correct, the float can be stuck against the side of the box. September 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality - returned 3 times - Flotec has good designs, but poor quality First pump I installed the first pump - tested it before hooking everything up and it was fine. After plumbing everything up and getting everything into place, time to test for leaks etc. and the pump motor quit. Second pump - brought it home, did the test of the pump - the float switch was broken - pump was always running. Third pump - brought it home, tested it and it was working - hooked it all up, pump motor works, but water stopped pumping after 2 or 3 minutes... took it apart, found out the impeller was bad. Returned this pump, picked up a RIGID - installed it, worked and is still working. I wasted a LOT of time and energy on those 3 Flotecs... never again December 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Died in less than two years We had this pump installed to take care of discharge water from the washing machine and a utility sink in the basement. It died today. It only hums and no longer pumps anything. I will replace it with the same type unit as all the fittings are there for it but I thought these things were supposed to last longer than 22 months. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Pump Ever Well, I spent another hour and a half mopping up part of my basement because our Flotec pump leaked all over the floor – this time it was while we were draining part of our water heater. It doesn't really matter what the reason is, if the amount of water is over the pump's limit, even by a small amount, on the floor it goes. My husband has tried 6-ways to Sunday to fix this annoying defect, but the pump will not overflow back into the sink when it is filled like our old pump did. The other frustrating aspect of the design is putting the cover back on. If it is not done precisely, and the floater is upset in the very least, this causes the water to overfill the pump and leak out the defective gasket (which we've replaced twice). We will be purchasing a new pump for our laundry room. One that actually works. September 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised, but a little noisy Works great. My only complaint is that the housing amplifies the sound of the pump slightly, and when active, the pump can be heard throughout the first floor of our house. Also, beware of how you seal the threaded-discharge pipe. Once I welded-up my plumbing to the connections on the unit, the internal check-valve is now inaccessible, keeping 7 feet of water pressure on the threaded connection. I cannot get the unit open to get at the check-valve without cutting apart my spectacularly-magnificent work. I used plenty of the putty (recommended to me by a licensed plumber) on the threaded pipe when I joined it, but a slow leak occurred from around the threads as soon as I tested it for the first time. I tried to re-seal it with goop and it still leaks. I am going on vacation and hope that 10 days of leaking will reduce the pressure enough to allow me to seal it for good when I get back. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by exactly what i wanted little loud, but this really does the job for my undercounter sink. very happy that i can run the water up and into the waste system. February 7, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well if assembled correctly Contrary to other reviewers, this product is fantastic if assembled correctly. When placing the pump portion in the housing, you must check for float movement with something (I bent a coat hanger) to ensure that the pump is seated properly and that the electrical cables aren't wrapped around the float. Once that is done, the rest can be assembled with ease. I installed the unit to take care of my set-tub laundry waste water and it has done a fine job for over a year! Just make sure you filter out any laundry scum before draining into this unit... you may clog it. October 18, 2009
