Answer:
Kathie, if the frost is light, you'll be okay. If a heavy frost is expected, I would lay a good tarp over the greenhouse for added protection.

This will be a lot like individual plant covers or a frost blanket, except it's 4ft. tall. Will it protect from actual frost ice crystals on your plants? Yes. From freezing? Depends how cold it is outside. This will keep the temperature inside several degrees warmer than outside. So if it's freezing outside, it'll stay a few degrees above freezing inside. Depends how cold it is outside. This will keep the temperature inside several degrees warmer than outside. So if it's freezing outside, it'll stay a few degrees above freezing inside. Wind chill could probably mess with that. If it's significantly below freezing outside, your plants will probably still freeze inside the plant house, because a few degrees won't save them from severe cold. If you put soda bottles or milk jugs full of water inside, it will keep the temperature up by storing some of the daytime heat. It also traps a lot of humidity inside. Read Less

Answer:
Yes, it has protected all of my potted plants from Amaryllis, to succulents this winter. We did put hotplates with a stainless steel bowl filled with water and stones in the plant houses and it provided enough warm moist air that my plants look better this winter than any other winter.

Lina, you can add shelves in there, or do what I did--place a sheet of plywood on two sawhorses and just slide trays of plants in and out.

This particular greenhouse does not come with shelves, but they can be added separately! However we do have other models in our Harvest House series that do come with shelving if interested.

Answer:
It's translucent. Diffused sunlight gets through just fine. I don't have a % on this product, but similar greenhouse plastic fabric usually has 80-90% light transmission. Basically, it diffuses the sunlight like a cloudy day would: no sun glare and no shadows. My tomatoes like it, and my herbs seem OK, too.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 51 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the money I use the greenhouse to keep my plants out of the super hot Arizona sun. So far it's worked great. Very easy to set up! July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great Easy setup and a good investment. Recommended if you have plants that can't take full sun July 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Zipper failed within a month Overall it's not a bad set up. When I when this route I wanted to be sure 1) that it wouldn't blow away in a windstorm and 2) that it wouldn't end up as plastic junk after a season. We pitched it in a sheltered area, and haven't had a bad enough storm to really test it. But the guy lines hold it down well and we secured some of the grommets with rebar stakes. As far as it ending up as plastic junk: one of the outside zippers is already broken. That happens to the other, and this is garbage. April 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just exactly what I wanted! The ease of popping it up was great, and it's functioning perfectly. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased and happy plants I bought two of these smaller greenhouses for my plants this winter. Instead of putting them on my patio I decided to put them in the back of my yard, sheltered on two sides by the fence and metal shed. I'm using spare bricks to hold them down instead of the metal stakes, and even in strong winds they remain standing. Christmas lights are keeping the inside aloe vera plants warm. The 3x3 greenhouse was obviously shorter and harder to scoot the plants into; I prefer the 4x4 version just because it's easier to squat inside and move the plants around. These are EXACTLY what I have needed for years and am thrilled to have them! I'll take them down at the end of winter and store in the round holders for next winter. December 31, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied Customer I bought two. They were easy to assemble and they have lived up to my expectations. I have been very pleased. My plants have withstood several hard frosts without injury. The price was more than reasonable...Home Depot was having a sale. February 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for protecting plants Easy to assemble and well made. It would be nice if a optional floor was included, but used an outside rug to protect plants from cold ground. January 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice for the price Good size for bigger plants , easy for me to assemble. Creates insulation. reasonably priced. We will see how long it lasts. Can fold it down to a small size when not using. December 29, 2015
