Answer:
Kathie, if the frost is light, you'll be okay. If a heavy frost is expected, I would lay a good tarp over the greenhouse for added protection.

This will be a lot like individual plant covers or a frost blanket, except it's 4ft. tall. Will it protect from actual frost ice crystals on your plants? Yes. From freezing? Depends how cold it is outside. This will keep the temperature inside several degrees warmer than outside. So if it's freezing outside, it'll stay a few degrees above freezing inside. Wind chill could probably mess with that. If it's significantly below freezing outside, your plants will probably still freeze inside the plant house, because a few degrees won't save them from severe cold. If you put soda bottles or milk jugs full of water inside, it will keep the temperature up by storing some of the daytime heat. It also traps a lot of humidity inside. Read Less

Yes, it has protected all of my potted plants from Amaryllis, to succulents this winter. We did put hotplates with a stainless steel bowl filled with water and stones in the plant houses and it provided enough warm moist air that my plants look better this winter than any other winter.

It's translucent. Diffused sunlight gets through just fine. I don't have a % on this product, but similar greenhouse plastic fabric usually has 80-90% light transmission. Basically, it diffuses the sunlight like a cloudy day would: no sun glare and no shadows. My tomatoes like it, and my herbs seem OK, too.

It works for the purpose I needed - a waterproof cover for my dog igloo on my patio. The hardest part is getting the side struts in. I'm a small (100#) woman and literally had to climb inside to work get the side struts/supports in...with a lot of swearing. The struts are just like pop up tent poles and I've seen them break, so working with them that close to my face was a little unnerving. None snapped and I finally got them all in. I then took insulated foam board and put around the sides of the igloo and raised the igloo up off the ground on a wooden pallet. With a brooder lamp shining into to the dogloo, the greenhouse keeps it pretty warm. I have a smaller flowerhouse over the fountain in my garden to protect the pump. The pump is under the 70# fountain and a bunch of river rocks, none of which I can move on my own. I did not remove the water last winter and the pump did not freeze, so I guess my flowerhouse worked well.

Size is perfect for my use. I want to try to winter over a few things from my garden and this looks like the perfect solution. We'll see how sturdy the zipper door is after it gets thru the winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased and happy plants I bought two of these smaller greenhouses for my plants this winter. Instead of putting them on my patio I decided to put them in the back of my yard, sheltered on two sides by the fence and metal shed. I'm using spare bricks to hold them down instead of the metal stakes, and even in strong winds they remain standing. Christmas lights are keeping the inside aloe vera plants warm. The 3x3 greenhouse was obviously shorter and harder to scoot the plants into; I prefer the 4x4 version just because it's easier to squat inside and move the plants around. These are EXACTLY what I have needed for years and am thrilled to have them! I'll take them down at the end of winter and store in the round holders for next winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied Customer I bought two. They were easy to assemble and they have lived up to my expectations. I have been very pleased. My plants have withstood several hard frosts without injury. The price was more than reasonable...Home Depot was having a sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holds up to weather I purchased one of these in November, thinking I would first use it as a shelter in the pen of a wounded Pekin duck we rescued earlier in the year, and then I would use it more traditionally. I just purchased another; the duck is attached to it and I don't think she'll be giving it up! ; ) We did use a lightbulb in the house, based on another reviewers suggestion, and it probably upped the temperature another ten degrees in the greenhouse. It's made quite well and withstood our rugged weather this winter, including a snowfall of seven inches and some 50 mph winds. It cleans beautifully (thank heavens, see duck comments above), also. The photo does not show that there are stakes included so that you can anchor the top of the greenhouse. In our case, we anchored to the pen so the stake lines would not hamper entry and exit, I could see where you would have to be more careful when entering if the stake line was towards the ground. It's roomy, but you do have to "duck" when you are in it. ; )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just exactly what I wanted! The ease of popping it up was great, and it's functioning perfectly.
