Product Overview

Only Fluidmaster has toilet flappers with built-in Microban protection. The Microban protection keeps the flapper cleaner by fighting flapper breakdown due to bacteria on the flapper itself. Toilet flappers made with Microban technology are more resistant to premature deterioration than other flappers. The Microban additive operates on the cellular level to prevent uncontrolled growth of microorganisms that can damage the flapper. The 502 Universal PerforMAX High Performance Toilet Flapper for 2 in. flush valves works best in toilets with 1.28 - 3.5 Gal. per flush or higher. The 502 is adjustable for optimum performance and water savings, is chlorine resistant, and has a solid frame for ultimate reliability. Flappers with a solid frame do not twist and provide the best seal. Replace or fix your toilet flapper with a Fluidmaster toilet flapper.

Fluidmaster Adjust-a-Flush 2" Toilet Flapper ---how does this adjuster work? What happens in turning the dial?

Asked by: Anonymous
Set to "9", the flapper will stay up for a long time. Smaller numbers will make it drop faster, limiting the amount of water that makes it out of the tank before the flapper stops it.

How to get the flapper to go down by itself?

How to get the flapper to go down by itself?
Asked by: nuhippy
I just sat over the exposed back basin of the toilet with a phillips head screw driver and made very minor adjustments to the screws on the inlet pump. Then I clipped the plastic off the flush handle innards in the water basin. That way as the flap descended it would not catch anything on the way down and restrict the toilet from stopping when needed.

how do I treat ghost water loss?

I hear water running out and I hear more water going in. What is going on?
Asked by: seacaptain1
The most common solution for your situation is to replace the flapper. As the flapper ages the material it is made of can disintegrate causing it become distorted and not to seal correctly on the tank discharge valve. You may also try lifting the flapper valve and looking for an obstruction that would cause the flapper not to seal properly.

W can this be used in a BRIGGS 4438 tank flapper

I need a flapper for a Briggs 4438.
Asked by: nanato3
You should be able to use this flapper, the part number is 502 if your flapper is designed with the two plastic clip on arms. just measure the chain length, once you remove the old flapper it should be equal to the new 502 flapper. snap this flapper on, clip the chain to the flush arm middle hole. and give it a try. make adjustment as needed. Universal PerforMAX High Performance Toilet Flapper with Microban from Fluidmaster was an easy replacement. Un-click old flapper by lifting up on prongs on hinge stubs and click the new one in. Next size the chain and set length of pull chain. Be sure to remove excess chain. I set the setting on flapper to 5 and it works well.

The Fluidmaster flapper just snapped on - no issues there. I moved the dial to '9' to achieve 'full flow'. I have a 22 year old Gerber toilet that clogs easily so max flow is necessary here. I feel ridiculous recommending a flapper, but the new flapper has been a big 'relief' for a nuisance problem - a problem completely solved.

This is the only flapper that I could find to replace the original flapper on this particular designed tank. It attaches to a narrower tube than what is standard and snaps on very good. The snap on handles are made of sturdy material unlike most on the market which is made out of one piece rubber. This justifies a couple of dollars more. I had actually gone through a couple before I found this one. I had previously lost a lot of water from the tenant apartment where this toilet is. It appears to be tight and holding the water without leaks. However, it is too early for me to give it 5 stars for now, but I found no fault with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It worked but I don't see that's it a water saver at all. I wish I had just bought the cheaper basic flapper. I paid a little extra for this one because it claims to offer water savings. I'm pretty sure my toilet actually uses more water per flush now. It wasn't worth the extra cost in my opinion. I chose to not hassle with removing and returning/exchanging for the less expensive model, I think that's what they are hoping for. I did put a 64oz bottle in my tank to reduce the water used per flush at least. Pros: Seals fine and works like a flapper should. Cons: No water savings as claimed on package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Instant Fix! I was getting some ridiculous water bill & couldn't figure why, but I noticed my bathroom bowl was constantly making flushing/dripping noises. This product not only resolved the noise problem, but took care of my high water-bill. It was easy to install & a great product- thank you!

I have to take it down one star because the design causes it to stick sometimes. I had to carve off a little of the round area so it wouldn't catch on the bulb in the tank. Universal doesn't mean it will fit perfectly in every application. It's a good replacement part.
