Customer Questions & Answers

Water is just spraying out (mist) to fill the tank back up,do I need to replace the whole fill valve to sloce the issue?

Asked by: Gette
No you do not need to replace the unit. Go to Home Depot and purchase the "Fluidmaster Part Number 242 which is the Toilt Fill Valve Seal. Turn off the water feed and simply turn the front section where the Float Arm comes out of counter clockwise for about a 1/4 turn and the assembly will come apart. Simply replace the old seal with the new one and put it all back together and you have a new operating toilet filler that only cost you about $2.89 to repair. This is a great product and I just wish more toilets used this system.

Why isn't this available in stores?

We're in a drought here; we can't afford to be wasting water for a week or more. When our fill valve won't close, we need to fix it now!

"Tank" Won't Refill

I have a toilet with this (Glacier Bay) flush valve installed. Tank will not refill unless I turn the water supply off, then back on again. The next time I flush it, it does the same thing - I have to turn the water off then on again. HELP!
Asked by: Anonymous
I have the Fluidmaster Model 703AP4 Flapperless Toilet Fill Valve shown at the top of this page and I purchased the Fluidmaster Model 242 Replacement Seal as indicated by FluidmasterSupport as being a solution to this problem. Unless, I am missing something, it is not the correct part for this product and cannot be used to solve this problem.

I just wish that more Toilet Manufacturers would go to this style of fill system, they are amazing. After I ordered the two on line I went to Home Depot and bought the small inner valve piece that was the main issue and repaired the valve. I will keep the 2 new valves that I bought because I have 5 bathrooms but only two of the toilets are the style that take this valve. The others are the old flapper style and I wish I could convert them but I will have to purchase the entire toilet which I do not want to do at this time. Thank you very much for a great product.

However, on the associates at the Fairfax store was kind enough to recommend buying this product on line. It was easy and simple to order. Product was delivered in a couple of days. Product is working great. I ordered and extra one, as I have more the one of the glacier bay high efficiency toilets. I may use the online system more often. It is very convenient. Thank you Home Deport

I'm really surprised that flapper less toilets haven't caught on and become dominate. I bought 2 flapper less toilets about 5 years ago. I bought the toilets myself and had them at home. The plumber charged me over $500 to install them. The other toilet in my house went out and I paid a handyman neighbor a $150 to install it and one of the flapper less toilets wasn't flushing right so he wanted to convert it and that would have cost a lot of money and the other one I had has worked great for 5 years, so I decided to save some money and at least remove the fill value. I just unscrewed the plastic nut that was just hand tight. I ordered this valve because they aren't stocked in the store. I spent less than $11 and installed it myself in less than a minute. You just connect the one nut. No tools required. I don't know why all toilets aren't built like this. I order 2 more just for spares.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from consider a new toilet! this is unique to the glacier bay 779-923, which isn't available anymore. part is only sold online and takes 10 days to get. inside shutoff wares out (rubber and plastic). this is the risk that you take buying a unique toilet. the 1st one did last 5 years. had to dump a picture of water in tank for almost 2 weeks to have it flush waiting for a $10 part.

This indeed is the replacement part for the flapperless toilet which Home Depot used to sell. I recommend it if you need one :) I absolutely love the flapperless toilets and wish that they would again be for sale. We purchased two, in the taller "handicapped" size because we are taller people, and really like the way they work. Gone are the chains which tangle, the paper clip to adjust chain length, and the falling off, the flapper not sealing --- you know these things, if you've used toilets for any number of years, lol :) It would be nice if this part were "cleanable" as the reason we needed to replace the original had to do with a bit of granite-silt coming through our water pipes and clogging this piece. There's a filter, but no way to dis-assemble and truly clean if something gets in. Anyway, glad the replacement is available. Got about 10 years out of the original part and hope to get another 10 years use before needing to replace.

The part is fine but I had no choice since it is the only one that fits a Glacier Bay toilet. My problem with Home Depot is that it was not stocked in the store but had to be ordered on-line with shipping nearly equal to its purchase price. I am unlikely to purchase Home Depot brands when the store doesn't provide parts.
