Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AnObservantDIYer Fluidmaster 400 lsc leak sentry WORKS!
The device was easy to install. It works like a charm.
Even if I didn't think so at first!
I made the same observation as previous reviewers: the tank was empty and the toiled "didn't" flush. Yet I concluded differently.
The (my) unit works perfectly well. As advertised, the unit DOES "prevent the refill of a leaky tank."
While I was puzzled at first and did think the unit was faulty, I removed the tank top and looked inside. The tank was empty! And that was clearly no fault of the Fluidmaster400 lsc; the unit did perfectly well to "prevent..." I took a look at the flapper and, after 6 years, it was pretty crusty; a perfect setup for water in the tank to seep through.
An early, rough, observation had my tank emptying in about 4 hours. That is 6 "emptyings" a day at a gallon (4 L) per! Six gallons (24 L) per day. 365. Wow.
I cleaned the flapper and the rate slowed to about 6 hours per emptying. Down to 4 gallons (16 L) per day of wasted water.
In that toilet alone!
Clearly, it is the seal with the flapper that is the problem.
This weekend, my pet project will be...
I hope this helps.

Some years back, a basement toilet flapper valve leaked over 75,000 gallons of water before it was discovered. We have high mineral content water and the minerals crusted on the flapper valve. I installed the Leak Sentry fill valve (and new flapper valves.) I hadn't paid attention to that bathroom for several years, as it is remotely located. The other day I was down there again and flushed the toilet. Thank goodness the leak sentry had prevented the toilet from running, as the tank was bone dry. Again, the flapper valve had been encrusted by minerals and was leaky.
All of my toilets in my rental houses have these valves and it saves money and water.

When the toilet goes to fill back up the float device on this thing takes too long to raise up to stop the flow. I tried fixing it and adjusting hit no use. I just have to spend more money for he better quality instead of this cheap plastic.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by WeedWhackerDood Worked for 2 years, then won't allow tank to refill.
I have a new house (2008), with 5 toilets in my house, about 2 years ago (2012/2013), we had high water bills so I changed out all of the factory toilet fill systems with the Fluidmaster 400LS. Immediately we noticed an improvement in our water bill and performance on refills.
Now, 3 of the 5, the ones used the most, won't refill. These have been working fine, nothing has changed in the system or usage. I have re-adjusted the chain from the original position and I cannot solve the issue. I left it loose, i left it tight, to the point you could hardly move the handle and all positions in between (2-3 links in the plastic chain), and it is very difficult to move the handle far enough to get it to flush or it short flushes.
This item has a 5-year warranty for performance, but who can find a receipt after a few years? Going back to buy 3 from Home Depot, will bring back the defective ones on that receipt, what else can I do? I have spent more than 3 hours total over the past 2 weeks trying of work this issue out.

Well, you get what you pay for. Putting this in was a snap, about 10 minutes.
The rubber seal that came with the kit doesn't fit on the stem, not does it tell you if you should break off the inner piece to allow it to slide on. I sued the rubber seal from my prior valve.
The base of the valve leaks, but it leaks into the bowl and shuts off when filled so it doesn't waste water.
They give no instructions on how to install, which would help a more novice do it yourslefer.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AAPEIN Leak Sentry "It Leaks All right"
Installation of the fill valve requires basic tools and minimal plumbing expertise. Adjustment of water fill level is necessary. The only drawback is that the ease of installation is off-set by the fact that the valve continued to leak.
