No. The fan comes on automatically when the heat exchanger reaches a certain temperature. If you've had your unit for several years, and it's getting noisier, consider replacing the rubber vibration mounts for the fan internally. Note that if the blades are rubbing on the damper, the damper is adjustable. Just loosen the screws and slide the damper up or down until the blades no longer touch it. (do this with the unit off, power off, and spin the blades by hand to test. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Unit! We purchased Model #5507331 -- 40,000 BTU and before installation found the fan motor wire "cut" and the fan jammed against fan "shroud" and blades "bent". We returned the unit (#1) and the replacement was delivered and upon inspection found the fan motor wire disconnected. Repairs were made to unit (#2) it was installed and works great! Home Depot in Rockland, MA were fantastic!! Extremely professional and supportive with pick up/return of first damaged unit and delivering the second replacement unit. January 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wall Heater is all it was represented to be and do. Heater is great. Heater arrived with the center panel bent. Home Depot was requested to send replacement for the panel. It arrived timely but was the incorrect size. When Home Depot was contacted again, in a very short time, I received a telephone call from the manufacturer at Home Depot's request. The manufacturer quickly sent the correct size and shipping labels for return of the incorrect size panel and the bent panel, the bent panel to be shipped to Home Depot and the incorrect panel to be shipped to the manufacturer, both at no cost to the buyer.. Very positive follow thru by both Home Depot and the manufacturer. Mistakes in life happen from time to time but in this case, they were immediately corrected. A real pleasure to deal with Home Depot and with the manufacturer who contacted me at the request of Home Depot. March 4, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy this Furnace. This was really a mess. I order first one, fan was damaged, they where suppose to arrange to pick it up, they never did. We had to drive it to another town and return it ourselves. I othered another one. Looked like it had been in the war. Outside was all beat up. I told them to make sure it was correct before they shipped but talking to deaf ears. Also needed a vent kit to go through the ceiling and they did not have. You would have to buy that part from a dealer. Who sells a furnace with no vent kit available? August 14, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Product is good, manufacturer tech support is lousy. I called and e-mailed 5 times to find out orifice size for my elevation and what extra parts were that were included. Their tech support never answered all my questions. When you buy it you are on your own. Home Depot sells heater but not the required stove pipe. That doesn't make sense. December 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Things must be different with this heater now. Received the heater, delivered to home with no damage. Installed heater with little problems. Fired up the first time and runs as it should. Absolutely no problems with this heater. Will see what happens in the long run, but I am very pleased with this heater (especially for the price paid) at this point in time. October 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Two Heaters Returned, Third One Damaged After taking two of these furnaces back, the third one arrived damaged and would not work. My heating professional worked on it for two days and had to replace parts. Of course this was not for free. He finally go it working and it is doing a great job. All products arrived with damages on the front grills and insides. If this one breaks down, I will return it and take my business elsewhere. November 16, 2011
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fan is out of balance and wobbles badly. Does not stay running and heat to desired temp. Heats great but does not stay running. Shuts off after about one minute and not even close to desired temp. Fan is way out of balance. December 18, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The product works This product works well and was installed with minimal help. Shipping packaging could be improved. Took three orders and two returns to get one not took dammaged to install. January 10, 2012
