I'm pretty sure you can cut it. I don't think it will fray, but can't be sure. It's thin enough, that if you want to cut it, a good pair of scissors should do it.

Answer:
Cutting the rug using a straight edge and sharp utility knife is no problem; the issue is making sure the seams you created won't fray the rug and leave it unsightly and create a trip hazard.
While this may not be an issue for you, it is something to consider.

Can't say there is a "Backing" . It's maybe a lightweight synthetic backing (not a rubber backing). It doesn't slip on our deck at all!

Answer:
No, there is no backing. It also emits a disgusting fiber dust. I bought this to use over laminate flooring when fostering pets so that it could be removed/cleaned easily. Its a horrible product and leaves a mess you definitely should not inhale. I don't recommend it at all.

Answer:
It is not skid proof as our dog runs a slides on it all the time. We keep it grounded with large furniture but you can also buy those rug adhesives for the edges so they will stick to the floors.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for the deck This outdoor rug helped my deck look better and covered the rough spots. It's soft enough even for bare feet. We love it! May 24, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice purchase!! The outdoor rug was very nice......it looks good and it is a good quality outdoor rug.....I'm very happy with it! I would recommend it to a friend.....:) August 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A nice product overall, but couldn't use it for what we bought it for This is a very large and nice looking rug. But we bought it hoping to make our kitchen floor more safe for a disabled family member. But despite it's large size, it was so slippery that it skidded out from under several able-bodied people. We knew ahead of time that it did NOT have rubber backing to keep it in place, but still could not believe that it would be that "slick" -- and dangerous. Unfortunately, we cut the rug to fit our kitchen, so can't return it. We tried double-sided tape to hold it, but that only worked for a few days, because the tape did not stick to the rug. We have given up on it -- and now it will be out on our patio -- held down by heavy lawn furniture. And now we have to look for rubber bottomed rugs -- which are very, very pricy. March 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good outdoor rug The "charcoal" colored rug is actually a Pacific ocean blue, which suits our location for it better than a mere charcoal would have. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not bad for the price The color was more blue then grey, it is light weight easy to move. It did the purpose I bought it for and if I need to buy another it is fine, I don't feel like having this rug on our outdoor patio will get ruined by the outdoor elements. It looks nice, easy to vacuum etc. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I needed This rug was perfect for my porch and the price allowed me to purchase two. It is fairly lightweight, so it will have to be weighted in order to prevent it blowing away. It seems tough and the color is neutral June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for what I needed! Great for my covered deck! I wanted something to define the area of seating and protect the deck itself. I bought one and went back and bought another to cover most of my deck. It looks great and is so inexpensive I won't feel guilty if I have to replace them every couple of years. My old one looked terrible and I had it about 3 years but was way more expensive. It is very thin, which is why I gave it a 4 not a 5 but looks good when put down. June 7, 2016
