It's cheap. It came somewhat damaged and really looks cheap. If you need something cheap and easy, it's fine, but don't expect something beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Mamaluc Mantel is a stunner!
The mantel we purchased unpainted is not installed and looks amazing. It has clean lines and adds a modern, updated look to our living room. We are very pleased with it.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by fordchr Good Quality but missing full dimensions
Please note I did not install this and will be returning it due to it not fitting my brick fireplace. I could not find any where that all the dimensions were listed so I took a chance since it said 6ft overall. The bottom inside measurements are only 64.5 inches inside the lip. Mine was a light popular and looks like it would have been easy to finish or paint so I would recommend if the size works for you.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by CareBearWCU Looks great!
It looks fantastic mounted, and is fairly easy to DIY. However, there are 2 negatives that I would like to state 1) As stated in other reviews, the mounting board was warped. We had to cut it into 2 pieces to get it level. 2) There is no mounting hardware included whatsoever. It cost me an extra $30 to get everything needed. That being said, the shelf itself is great quality.

When doing a Reno on a budget and you have some basic carpenter skills, this is an okay product.
The mounting board that was in the box was warped badly, to the point that i had to make my own with a spare 2x4 I had.
Another issue is the wood used for the top of the mantel is very thin,so when I glued and tacked down the mantle to the mounting board using finishing nails per the instructions, the ends flared up and the backside squished down. So now the top looks bowed and twisted when viewed from the front and side. Probably not as noticeable on a painted wall, but when installing on brick it stands out like a sore thumb due to the straight mortar lines.
I took the time to open the boxes at the store to ensure I did buy one that wasn't damaged. I opened a total of four, three were damaged, I notified an employee, not sure what ever became of it. Unfortunately I didn't have the forethought to check for any warping.
Not overly thrilled with this, but it was already painted before I noticed the warped board and it's already mounted so I'm stuck. Luckily once some items are placed on it the bow should be hidden.
I would recommend this based on price, however I would caution they check for damage and warped boards.
