I really like the overall design of this sandbox system, but there are some inherent flaws, mostly with the quality of the materials, which I found lacking.
I purchased the hexagon, 2-level design that is 7 x 8 feet, for my grandson. Upon opening the box, it was readily apparent that several of the planks had edges that were broken during shipping, in part due to inadequate protection of the boxing materials (only cardboard, no padding). Although the plastic fittings that connect the planks covered the defects, it was not a good first impression. The plastic walls of the planks are hollow and are very thin. A strap that was used to bind 2 boxes together even left a permanent indentation in the middle of a plank.
The plastic joints are designed to link together like a door hinge and work quite well. Unfortunately they are screwed directly into the thin-walled planks and the screws have a tendency to strip the plastic easily. It is best to drill a small pilot hole and use a hand screwdriver gingerly to avoid stripping. The stakes that hold the hinge parts together work well, and stack quite nicely inside each other for building the second level. There is a great deal of flexibility in the range of motion of the joints, so that you could easily adapt the shape from the intended hexagon to a triangle, square, or any other polygon you wish. This flexibility also allows you to adapt to the space you have, so that you could make an irregular polygon with unequal angles just as easily.
The plastic liner works well for its stated intended use, that is, to prevent weed growth from the bottom of the box. It does not continue up the sides of the box, however, and you will lose much sand through the leaking joints between the two levels.
The design of the cover is ingenious and can be put in place easily by one person in less than a minute. Again, I found the materials construction to be poor. By only the second day of use the retention string pulled free from the end clip that holds the 2 ends of the drawstring together. Although I was able to open the clip and reinsert the string, the clip would not reclose and I had to tie the strings in a knot to prevent them from retracting into the edge of the cover.

This product was extremely easy to put together. Our 3 year old son got to help my husband with the construction. We wrapped the liner around the first level before securing on the second level. This stopped from any sand leaking out. My son and his friends can crawl around the sandbox without being on top of each other. It does take alot of sand to fill it but we got our sand delivered in bulk and it was cheaper than buying bags of sand. We are extremely happy with this product.

When my wife told me she was ordering this sandbox I must admit I had my reservations--it's too big, probably difficult to put together. All iin all though, it had straightforward directions and is easy to assemble.
The instructional video on the manuafacturer's site does leave out the fact that you will need to drill holes so that was my only surprise. The other surprise is how much sand the box takes. I ended up getting 13 (40lbs) bags to start with and it didn't make a dent. I lucked out and HD had a sale on 50bags so I bought another 20. 1500lbs of sand is enough (believe it or not it can fit more easily)
If you have the space and want a sandbox that your kids and their friends can play in--this is the one.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by momof3 great large sandbox, does require some tape to prevent leaks
Overall I'm happy with the purchase. I read the reviews before buying the sandbox so I was aware that there would be some leaky spots...I purchased Gorilla Tape and taped up all the holes at the joints before adding sand....no problems with leaking sand. All 3 of my kids 7,5, and 2 can play comfortable, even our black lab joins the fun and there is still room to play. I'd recommend this product, good value.
