Customer Questions & Answers

product said work with roofing is this truth ?

Asked by: arron
Coiled roofing NAILS have different wire track positions than do coiled siding NAILS. Roofing NAILS are different from siding NAILS in their wire positions, so they don't interchange between roofing guns and siding guns. With that said, anyone can shoot any fastener they so choose into their project.

First Impression Review Before Actual Job Site Use: Exceptionally good features for low cost nail gun are as follows: 1. Nail set depth is set by a thumb wheel that extends or retracts the end nipple piece about a half an inch either way. 2. Infinite adjustment gas vent port. It does not have locking detents, but can be positioned at any point in a 360 degree spin, while held in place by a compression / interference fit. 3. Hanger attachment which can be positioned at any angle along a circular arc. 4. Super precise spring tensioned cover lock / release. This is a very precise and well made feature. 5. Hard rubber / plastic non marring full circle tip!. I prepped this gun as I do all NEW machines by OVER OILING the mechanism... I poured oil into the air intake nozzle until it filled up, and I then poured oil into the hammer rod track down into the housing . I then loaded a spool of about 100 Bulls-Eye 1-3/4" galvanized ring shanked nails, and fired away without a single misfire, jam, or failure to feed. I used it in single pull mode, and then in depressed [trigger hold] bump fire mode, and it worked flawlessly. I adjusted the nail depth, and it too worked well enough. For $159.00 This gun cannot be beat. It does not have the precise machined operating feel of a Makita, but it applies nails just as well. It also does not have the recoil from a more precise machine like a Makita, so it feels a bit clunky in operation, but the results are 100% acceptable. If your nail gun is giving you performance problems, make sure it is well oiled!!!! OIL THIS BABY!!!! Oiling problems account for many performance issues. Dry operations will destroy your device in no time. I will be hanging some fence panels soon, and will update review after I use about 1200 nails...

It works great on the siding, but does not fully sink a 2 1/2" ring shank nail through 3/4" Hardietrim and OSB sheathing combined. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, since a few taps with a hammer gets it where it needs to be. The only problems with jamming occurred while I was trying to get used to it on scrap material. Aside from a few double shots, it performed perfectly. Mine didn't come with a manual in the box, so I had to download one from Freeman's website. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

The nailer performed well for about the first 1000 nails. After that, it started to jam, misfire and double shoot. I was able to finish the project (7200 nails total), but I really had to "limp" it along towards the end because it jammed about every 20th nail. If you're looking for a "throwaway" nailer to use on one project, then I recommend this one. If you're looking for a nailer to keep forever, look elsewhere.

Thus far attempting to use the 2 1/2 inch siding nails has proven to be irrating. Following the instructions, adjusting the air pressure careful to remain within the recommended limit of the nail gun, the 2 1/2 inch nails do not drive flush leaving about 1/4" to be driven in with a hammer. I've ordered shorter nails and will see how these do but thus far I'm disappointed with this tool's performance.

I used this for a stand alone garage and did not want to spend a lot for one project. It got about half way though before requiring replacement of the o-rings. It worked quite well right up until it started leaking air. Based on other comments and reviews I tried to keep it lubricated consistent with the instructions and had no problems with jamming.

The included instructions were not great in showing how to adjust the nail adjuster plate to reflect the size nails being used. Once I figured that out, there was minimal issues with using this tool. I used this for a fence replacement using stainless steel coiled nails.

Nail gun does not like to be in place before nail is fired. It will often double fire. Works much better when pulling the trigger first and then punching siding. Hard to place nail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freeman Pneumatic 1-1/4 in. x 2-1/2 in. 15-Degree Coil Siding Nailer Very happy with this nailer. We ordered the Freeman Pneumatic 1-1/4 in. x 2-1/2 in. 15-Degree Coil Siding Nailer to install fiber cement siding (similar to Hardy Board). My husband commented repeatedly how glad he was that we'd bought it. It works like a charm.
