Instructions say depth of nail set accomplished two ways: by altering air pressure or using mechanical adjustment on gun. Which is better?
Asked by: Dean
Ideally, you would use the tool free depth control dial. Your air pressure can vary depending on the density of the wood you are shooting into. Once you get that set so the nail penetrates the wood with no problem, likely between 85 and 100psi, you can then adjust from their with the depth control.

Customer Reviews

Pneumatic 16-Gauge Strip Straight Nailer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice nailer, can't beat the price This was my first nailer and being a novice, I found it was extremely easy to set up and use. Light weight, no jams, and the depth dial made it very easy to set the depth of the nails. Very impressed. I would definitely recommend. Looking to buy a framing nailer now and I would buy another Freeman.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great nail gun for the price Had a freeman 16 ga nAiler for two years and was very happy. Few jams and easy to clear them out. 16 ga is stronger than many others. I use 2 in and 1 1/4 regularly. Very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great first nailer Works as advertised, 7 yr warranty, includes oil, and they even included safety glasses. For the price paid this is a really great finish nailer. i've only had one jam in hundreds of pulls, and i'm sure it was something i did wrong.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the price Purchased for $69.99 + tax online. Used nailer with SS 2-1/2" nails on cement fiber 3/4" trim boards. Satisfied with results. Would buy again for this purpose. Easy to hold up and use all day long. On short test run seemed to work better putting nails into wood. Will definitely use for crown moulding work. Not sure about standing up to heavy duty usage. Overall good value for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good product but buy a nail set for nailing the tongue of hardwood floors. The item worked great on whatever I used it for. It would face nail trim and hardwood floor and set the nail great. The only problem was nailing the tongue of 3/4" oak hardwood. Nearly every nail needed to be set with a nail set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Finish Nailer This is a great finish nailer and it works so smoothly it is unbelievable. Only had to make a small Air Pressure adjustment from Framing Nailer to Finish Nailer. Just lowered it a little so it did not drive them so deep. Great Air Nailer.
