Cls48, thank you for your inquiry. It is a great question. Front load washer model FFTW1001PW automatically calculates water level based on a dry load sensing procedure which determines load size before adding water to the tub. Feel free to review the User and Care Manual (http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/7a/7a1cad27-b34a-4ff4-8b41-4617d626d738.pdf). We hope this information is of assistance. Read More

Read in consumer reports that Frigidaire had fewer repairs than other models. And at least the drum isn't plastic. Read Less

Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 99 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very Basic This washer is not one I personally picked out its what the option was with my mobile home purchase. I despise the locking lid. I will hit the pause button to add or adjust something and sometimes it won't unlock I will have to unplug it. I do not like that the water doesn't dispense until lid is shut so clothes are thrown on top of soap. Also there is not just a spin option for items that may be still too wet, just a rinse and spin so it adds more water. I do like the pre soak option for those set in stains. It does the job well but definitely not a purchase I would've made if I had been giving more options or were actually shopping around. August 1, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Okay Came with the house I got a couple months ago. Glad I didn't not have to purchase it. Wouldn't recommend it. Can't spin dry your clothes, the washer stops during the wash cycle, and the locking lid sucks. I to am going to have to spend my only day off during the week at the laundry mat. I know people with washers/dryers darn near 20 that still work and are better than this. August 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive performance for a mid level appliance I received this washer as part of a home purchase deal. Figured that I would put up with it for a couple of years and then upgrade. But I was surprised at the large wash tub and upgrade performance of this machine. August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great washer large and quite Great washer it's good for large amount of clothes and it generally quite. August 18, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Automatic washer damaged many capris and other clothes Frustrated with this Frigidaire washing machine. Has ruined/torn several capris pants and light jeans, even on lightest setting. May 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Features It came with my new house and I love it. Is so easy to use. August 11, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by model I got this washer from builder when I bought the house. It makes very loud noise when it spin. I never heard any noise like that from any washers before August 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy this washing machine Do not buy this washing machine. I'd rate it with no stars but that option is not available. I'm just getting ready to load up my car for my monthly trip to the laundromat. As other owners have posted, this machine gets stuck in the wash cycle and will not drain. I have to ring the clothes out by hand and hang them up to finish dripping out excess water before I can put them in the dryer. When it gets to this point -- when it will not drain -- it takes a minimum of 2 to 3 days for the electronic memory to clear out so I can use it again. On average this happens every 10 days. I've been logging it's malfunction over the last few months; I've owned it for 13 months. I've tried doing very small loads of laundry and using it less frequently (I have a family of 4 usually do one load of laundry daily). I will never buy another Frigidaire appliance. July 29, 2016
