Customer Questions & Answers

Is the cooking element covered on the bottom of this stove? Frigidaire- Model FFEF3018LW

Asked by: Anonymous
No, the cooking element is an exposed bar at the bottom of the oven. Old school.

Can you use cast iron skillets on the smooth top range?

Asked by: Anonymous
I personally would not. Because of it being a smooth top you need to have pots and pans that are also smooth. Cast Iron pans tend to be bumpy

Customer Reviews

30 in. 5.3 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Oven in Black is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 235.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible work top for precision cooking I have had the stove for several years, and I have mixed emotions about it. On the one hand, the oven works very well, heats evenly, and is large enough to accommodate even a huge turkey. On the other hand, the cooktop is terrible. I got this glass top cooker because it looks prettier then the old-fashioned four burner electrics, but the way these glass tops are designed makes it difficult to cook anything that requires a low temperature for a sustained time. Instead of actually having temperatures ranging from high to low, the burners cycle. At high, the burner stays on high. At, say, six, the burner goes on high but only stays on half as long. On low, the burner still goes to high for a few seconds at a time. The result is that things boil over and stain this extremely hard to clean cooktop. It is hard to make sauces or anything that has to stay on low for an extended time; the bottom burns every time it cycles on. Also, the cooktop has a lip around it which makes it difficult to clean crumbs, bits of rice, etc. The one good thing about the cooktop is the dual burner. For some reason, it works well for things like boiling pastas and stews in big pots; use the large burner to bring items to a boil and then switch it to the small burner and it will provide just enough heat to keep liquids boiling but not boiling over. Overall, I would say that if you're not a super serious cook, maybe, just maybe the cooktop would be adequate. The oven is great for baking. But I am sorry I didn't just go ahead and buy the old-fashioned four burner stove and save a little money to boot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away from this one unless you enjoy spending your morning trying to get the top clean. This ... Stay away from this one unless you enjoy spending your morning trying to get the top clean. This top does not clean easily ...you need to use a cleaner and a razor blade to get it clean. You need to wait until the top is totally cool before even beginning to clean it. Trust me on this. Secondly, the bottom storage drawer is poorly made and does not glide smoothly ...ours is also out of alignment (one side is higher than the other). Lastly, the oven racks are not well made. When pulling the rack out, it will tilt to the front about half way out. If you are doing something that is filled to the top, you may get spillover. If there was a "return policy" on this one, we would return it immediately. Again, stay away from this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I am disappointed in this stove. The oven & burners... I am disappointed in this stove. The oven & burners take longer to heat up than my 15 y/o Whirlpool. The storage drawer is very flimsy and actually got bent during delivery. The jet black glass top shows everything & is hard to keep clean. I would not recommend this stove.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed in oven This is the first gas stove I have ever owned. I have had this stove for several years and the oven does not get as hot as my past electric ovens. I have to turn it up about 15-20 degrees higher than the temperature I want. I have also found the finish to be frustrating to keep clean. I clean up spills the same day they happen, but I have baked on splatters on the burner pans that just won't come off. Plus the streaks from wiping it off drive me crazy. I have to clean with Windex & paper towels after wiping off the stove top. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks nice, does its job. This came in the home we purchased, it looks nice with the design of the home and does a great job, we cook quite frequently too. However, there is a vent in the center of the back left coil and vents straight from the oven! What in the world is that?! our oven takes a while to heat up and the stove top is very difficult to touch. Not to mention how hot it makes the kitchen. Idk what that is, if there's a solution, then I'd be nothing but happy, but for now I'm iffy if I'd go with this product again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick fix! I posted the one-star "It broke" review. Turns out that after watching YouTube videos on troubleshooting, the problem was that the 3-prong plug was not seated all the way in, so we were getting 120volts instead of 240 which is what is required for the heating elements. Happy to report that all is well now. You can delete that review if you want.
